Most of the heroic moments I've been on the receiving side of (as in, I was entirely grateful to the other person and felt honored they were even standing within ten feet of me) have been things as banal as a complete stranger offering me a hug when I looked sad, and that hug comes and goes with no words and lasts all of ten seconds maybe. Then we part ways and never see the other again. So, yeah, maybe now there's not many "Heroes" who suffer through long hardships and questlines to kill huge monstrous dragons that threaten all humanity, who are faerie-tale, fantasy-ideal Heroic. But, in my opinion, those aren't the Heroes that matter most, anyway. My recent post Changing Directions

Sadly, my shaman had an 80 pally tank decked out in badge / raid gear say that he couldn't rez. I left that group with an "omfg," because I had no other words to describe my facepalming reaction to that.

Mmm, have you been using an older version of ACP? Mine works fine, and I use several sets across toons (AHing, one for raiding that's stripped to what I need to raid, leveling, etc.). They all load fine per toon (like my hunter perpetually has the leveling one loaded, whereas my warlock will still be in a raiding setting when I log back on). =/

Declare what you're rolling on and win & lose like everyone else; the only difference is it's impossible for a single-role-spec player to declare any role other than what he already plays. I think loot throttling per *player* is fine, but per *spec* is just stupid and greedy. For true hybrids who play both roles fairly often, I tend to assume the role you're currently performing is MS for the loot rolls. I mean, for single-specs, we have to perform our "main" spec to get our main spec gear, so to treat everyone as equally as possible, you should play the spec you wish to upgrade. Perhaps I'm a bit harsh, but the guild doesn't push the Switch Spec button for you. Just like they don't press the "Enter World" button when you choose which toon you're going to play. You do those things. You can always play a certain spec of a hybrid class because you find it interesting and dedicate yourself to that spec and refuse to play anything else. Or you can play both specs, but please make it clear to your guildies that you intend to build both roles. Just because you choose to gear up the equivalent of 2 toons at the same time doesn't give you any special pass to gear. It just means you're gearing up 2 specs at once, rather one then the other, and that you don't have to have a distinctly separate alt-toon to play another role. Respect others in the same loot fields as your wanted gear is in, and work with them to get loot for them too, and they'll probably cut you more slack than if you were just a greedy jerk who swipes and hoards rolls. "... a lol-drooling plzmonkey." I need to remember that phrase. XD I also try to pay attention to what mats they put in to make sure it lines up with the enchant they want. I've had people argue with me that I'm a complete idiot and these are the mats for the enchant they want, when I'm staring at the freaking enchanting trade window. Numbnuts. Once, I did accidentally run off with someone's mats. It was something expensive like a weapon enchant, too, if I remember correctly. I did the trade, the trade completed, but the enchant didn't go, and I got summoned off to Naxx right then and there without really thinking about checking it. Meanwhile, I'm standing around at the Naxx stone, helping to summon my other guildies, when I looked into my bags for something and stood there horrified that I still had all the mats the dude had given me. I whispered him to exclaim "OMFG I'M SO SORRY I'll hearth right now," and I did, went back to him in IF, did the enchant, and tipped *him* for nearly causing him to go off and buy more mats and find another enchanter, etc. He thanked me and said he now trusted me more as an enchanter since I dropped everything to come back for some dumb weapon enchant. Hooray? I do free enchants for guildies. Well, they bring their mats to me, if they're missing one or two mats, I'll supply them from my stash, but mostly they bring the mats to me. Lol, I meant Tuskarr are "round" like, you'd poke their bellies and they'd laugh. Like jolly tubby. I can't really go visit the Tuskarr and be in a bad mood. Dwarves, on the other hand, are "boxy" because they're mostly shoulders and muscles, y'know, not just jolly tubs. Like a dwarf would smack your face off if you tried to poke him in the tummy to make him laugh. But dwarves do make me happy, like Tuskarr. =P

I go back to my roots whenever I start to get burnt out on a toon. My roots being when I was leveling my warlock and didn't know about Elitist Jerks or raiding specs or raiding stats or which zone is the fastest to level. I just followed my gut and explored things. Not just exploring zones, but picking talents by myself, figuring out the rotations by myself, doing quests without things like Lightheaded to guide me. It's kind of fun, actually, to talent yourself by your gut and end up, once you ding 80, being pretty close to the actual "accepted" talent spec. Right now, my ele shaman is about to do Wrathgate, and it's totally more exciting than when my druid (2nd 80) did it. When my druid did it, it was more "oh yeah, epic quest chain that rewards a cool cinematic and a lot of experience." My shaman's busy enjoying the journey. And she's sticking like a cinema floor to shoes. My basic advice when trying to level a toon is to forget about endgame completely. Stop trying to grow up, enjoy the kids' meals, etc. So what if you level slowly, at least enjoy it! Don't think about what she'll do when she's 80. Don't go peeking onto sites of how to properly level a class, and don't go looking for specs until you're in your 70s. Just do it your way. For mains, I do classic/BC achievements solo, specifically the dungeon ones. LBRS was actually fun on my lock trying to figure out the map and how to get to places.

But what gets me annoyed is on my druid when I tell the lock they can life tap and I keep tossing Rejuvs (y'know, green stuff all around your body, it's OBVIOUS PEOPLE), but they don't tap until after the HoT has expired. And then they tap until their mana bar is full, which generally leaves them at around < 20% health. For. Fuck's. Sake. People. Even when I'm trying to be nice...complete and utter morons. My warlock hit 80 around mid-December 2008, and soon after I started with some of the easy heroics like Nexus and VH. I didn't replace Mark of the War Prisoner (blue off Cyanigosa, H-VH) until after Tier 10 had barely broken out and I had saved enough triumph emblems to get Shard of the Crystal Heart.
