SayAnythingBlog.com : After Appearing At "No Labels" Rally, Charlie Crist Refers To Himself As A "Reagan Republican"

Quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long, long time. Wow. If it weren't for the comment that Crist was an "Eisenhower Republican" right before he called himself a Reagan Republican...I'd agree. This guy is a loon.

SayAnythingBlog.com : "Don't Tread On Me" License Plates Sweeping The Nation

Using homosexual terms in a derogatory manner? I've always thought the same thing. The term is being used in a derogatory manner. And it either means that I am "receiving" that form sexual contact or "giving it". I'm assuming that hannitized means that I'm giving it. Again, which means, he's using it as a slur based on a homosexual act. An act that he defends. Anyway, just another example of Leftists not having a clue about what they say.

SayAnythingBlog.com : Democrat Group Wants To Eliminate Social Security For The Wealthy

So are the wealthy going to be exempted from paying in to the SS system or are they just going to have their money stolen? That, of course, would be the goal; to let everyone opt out. However, for now,, it looks like they are going to recommend several methods to reigning in this SS monster. 1 of which is to limit or eliminate payments to the wealthy retired. Even if they do THAT, however, nothing I have seen would suggest that any benefits would be touched to people over the age of 55. Those folks have already begin to plan on some of their retirement being SS payments.

SayAnythingBlog.com : Shocker: German Spending Cuts Lead To Economic Recovery

His goal is making himself feel good through charity. I agree. The Liberal's goal is "noble" if you ignore the means. Who doesn't wanna make sure kids have enough to eat and warm beds to sleep in. However, I want my kid to get good grades in school, so I don't do their homework for 'em. Cause really, it's not the grades that is the goal, it's the learning and doing. So, while Liberals are to be commended for trying to give people stuff, they are foolish and shortsighted when they do just that; give it away. An interesting dynamic, by the way, is the morality of charity:
According to a study, when people feel they have been morally virtuous by saving the planet through their purchases of organic baby food, for example, it leads to the "licensing [of] selfish and morally questionable behaviour", otherwise known as "moral balancing" or "compensatory ethics".
guardian.co.uk/environment/2010/mar/15/green-consumers-more-likely-steal I often find that after Liberals have succeeded in giving away <strike>other people's</strike> money, they begin to act in the most rude and uncharitable manner. Ugly.

want to throw the unemployed overboard ... provide minimal health care for the poor If you present those items as goals, there are many ways to get their. However, you don't do that. You present them as something that we have to "give". The only thing remaining is to think of a way to pay for them. I maintain that if your goal is to provide for the best medical care for the most people, the market is the solution. When you force people to pay for other people's goods by force of sword or gun, you build an inefficient system that is unable to generate the same success as the market.

But Germany takes care of their unemployed, so you must not support THEIR version of spending cuts, because they did not throw people into the streets. 1st, we "take care" of our unemployed as well. Typically, we provide benefits for 6 months. Now, the Germans DO provide benefits for 12 months, but it comes with some requirements. Namely that you have been working long enough in concurrent past months to qualify. Further, should you be offered a job identified as "suitable" and decline it, you lose your benefits for 12 weeks. Decline enough of these jobs and you lose your benefit completely.

SayAnythingBlog.com : America's New Victim Group: "The 99'ers"

Yes. Oh. Well, if I am underestimating you, perhaps that's because the things you say make it easy to think a person doesn't know what he's talking about. Not true. Consider oil imported from our enem Didja see the part with the " * "? There is a whole value proposition involved. I did consider the iPhone. A net loss The more I read the things you say, the more I think that you are wrong to assume I underestimate you. I think I've pegged you pretty dead on.
Turn over your iPhone and you'll see that it's "assembled in China." But that doesn’t mean that most of the profits or revenue go there. In fact, only about $6.54 (a little more than than 1%) of the full $600 retail price of an iPhone goes to China and more than 60% goes directly to Apple and other American companies and then indirectly to American workers
mjperry.blogspot.com/2010/07/iphone-designed-by-apple-in-us.html Allow me to laugh and snicker as service industry jobs pay less the manufacturing jobs. Certainly we have service industry jobs. We also have lawyers and doctors [for now]. We have marketing executives and salesmen. We have inventors and computer engineers. But keep on keepin' on... widen the trade deficit for America. Not good. What are you talking about? Trade gap. Bad. When a foreign company sells something to us, they are, by definition, benefiting us. Or we wouldn't make the trade. Once again you underestimate my ability to think for my self Oh, I don't think so. If anything, YOU are OVER estimating your ability to think at all.

You are underestimating me. Not good. For who? Me? Any form of US of industry that uses plentiful US raw materials to produce an abundance of finished products is good for us and the US. Any form of US industry that uses the raw materials purchased at the best value* to produce products is good for us and the US. For example, consider the iPhone. Made overseas. Most of the cost of the phone was "spent" in the US. Including the profit. Cheapskates are ruining America by exporting good jobs As we send commoditized jobs overseas, we create more and more higher end jobs here. * By "best value" I mean mostly cost. However, there are cases where purchasing the least expensive commodity may not provide the highest value. For example, if an American company can purchase copper for $1 a pound or for $2 a pound, they should purchase that $1 copper, independent of what country mined it. Labor, like copper, is a commodity best purchased where it is least expensive. No I don't think it will generate 15,000,000 jobs. Maybe it was your smart assed response to me that 15,000,000 are working under the table or that there were 15,000,000 jobs just waiting for folks to fill 'em. Or maybe not. Show why I should care for the liberal plank. Liberals care about Liberal things.

Do you really think that 15,000,000 jobs exist where these people can work? Do you really think that paying 15,000,000 not to work will generate 15,000,000 jobs? I don't need citation; my logon to keynes.com is current. have a positive trade balance. I'm interested in hearing why not. vast amounts of money goes from the US to China. Money we don't have and must borrow from China. When people say that China owns our debt, do you think that they mean the Chinese owns YOUR debt? No more subsidies to ND and Alaska. I'm down with that. However, I'm not sure that cutting Federal Funds to Native American populations is the Liberal Plank you think it is. Bring back all US troops fighting wars and stationed abroad I'm good with this one too; though ALL is a bit harsh. But I getcha. reduce military spending by 50% Hell, just LIMIT the increase by 2% and we're there. require that all underwear and socks worn by all Americans be made in The USA with USA materials. Do you always propose things that don't make sense? Why in the world would you wanna pay more for something than you need to? I say it's a start. Its more like an end.

SayAnythingBlog.com : Whoopi Goldberg: Opting Out Of TSA Screening "Is Like An Act Of Terrorism"

It’s interesting to see how partisan the debate over TSA screening is becoming. As David Harsanyi notes, it seems as though the left-right divide on this issue has come full circle since 9/11 and since the changing of our Presidents with a Democrat replacing a Republican: I have found this to be true as well. Bush's Republicans backed his over the top security measures as the Democrats bashed 'em. It' simply turned 180 now that Obama is in office. Both of the "International" and "John Deere" party members are as guilty as the other. Rather disgusting.

What Heritage and Stoessel are saying is that socialism was the established form of government and that it failed. It seems that the "governor" at the time decided that everyone needed to share their stuff. And that didn't work. So he changed his mind and decided that everyone got to keep their stuff. And that worked. Clearly no one thinks that we witnessed a "Socialist/Communist Society" rise and fall. What we saw occurred in a petridish. It's meant to serve as an example; not an exhaustive account of the pro's and con's of the philosophy of how to govern.

So what is your point... in times of need and not enough food, it could be a valuable tool for a short time once again. Listen, if I'm on a bus in the middle of a snowstorm and we get stuck, sharing amongst us might keep us all alive. The point of all of this is that when the Pilgrims first arrived in the new world, they tried to arrange their society along the lines of a communal system; all share the work and all share the gain. It didn't work. That is the point.

It was a voluntary communal sharing for the common good. The key word being voluntary. No one disputes that groups of people acting in tandem can do wondrous things. The problem comes when their is coercion. That is, a group, be it church or state, feels that they have the Right to be Liberty and take that by force of sword or gun. THAT is when Liberty has left.

"The Pilgrims were more like shareholders in an early corporation than subjects of socialism" The point remains the same. People rejected the notion that they be forced to work for the benefit of another:
“Bachelors didn’t want to feed the wives of married men, and women don’t want to do the laundry of the bachelors,” he said.
The overarching point of the story is that people succeed when they are able to control the fruits of their labors. And they reject such institutions that restrict that freedom.

SayAnythingBlog.com : Group Offers To Donate to Charity On Behalf Of Businesses Hiring The Unemployed

They hire workers because they need workers to do their business and turn a profit. Well, they hire workers when they feel that the added productivity of that worker exceeds the marginal cost of employing them. This marginal cost includes wage, FICA, unemployment taxes and other state mandated nonsense. While I agree that a business won't hire someone just to get a cool grand, they will certainly NOT hire someone if they feel the cost of "paying" them exceeds their production. And maybe an added grand pushes them over that hump. If we want businesses to hire we need to get government off the back of the economy. End the policies like the minimum wage and unemployment benefits that make our labor pools more expensive and less flexible. There you go! Perfect policy. Politicians and charity managers like these sort of incentives because, superficially, they seem very altruistic. But the reality is that these sorts of efforts don’t really accomplish anything except wasting time and money. This is VERY true of politicians. Because they use money to increase or expand their own power. However, charity is a separate case. I firmly believe that if private people wanna donate their private money to whatever cause they choose, let'em. And if it helps someone that otherwise wouldn't have been helped, all the better.
