This happened to me when I ordered a Hallowell Cowl Neck that had popped back! It kept alternating between included in shipment/preparing to ship (with a date) and backordered for several days, which made me nervous. I thought it would get canceled but it eventually shipped about a week later. Hope your luck is as good!

If shipping to a friend isn't an option and it looks like you're going to miss the package, USPS has a mail holding service and UPS has its My Choice service (free holding for pickup or $5 to reschedule the delivery or change the delivery address en route). I just used the UPS service last week while on vacation (order didn't make it to me before I left) and the fee was worth not having to worry about my package getting stolen.

http://effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com/ : Thoughts on finances and how I keep my spending in check

Thank you for sharing, Roxy! Thankfully I haven't been in a situation where I've gotten in over my head, but as someone just starting out with student loans to pay yet I'm concerned that I'm spending more than I should. Personally, I've found a few tweaks to my routine have helped me while shopping at Anthropologie: - I try my best to shop only at brick and mortars, and when I do, I withdraw a set amount of cash so that there's a visible limit. I tend to have more trouble grasping how much I'm spending over the course of the month when I'm ordering online or using my credit card. - I'm sure many of us tend to add anything that remotely interests us to our wishlists because of Anthro's redirect page. This can encourage me to make more purchases come sale time, though, during which my mentality becomes "oh I like this and wishlisted it, and I'm going to buy it now that it's on sale!" This year I made myself a separate "buying" wishlist for the things that I love the most and am planning on purchasing for sure if they get marked down. I try to keep it to ten things or so. I find that taking the time to come up with a hierarchy before things get marked down makes it easier to pass on other things that aren't on the top priority list, even if I like them. - Ignore the original price tag on a sale item and assess the item based on its own merits and cost-per-wear value. I used to find $200 pieces that had been marked down to $20 irresistible, but I realized that these pieces didn't really have any value if they didn't fit my lifestyle. I admit that my spending has increased a lot since I've started following review/OOTD/fashion blogs, and that I'm very easily swayed by hype. Part of the problem for me is that I might see five bloggers raving about a certain top, another five gushing about a skirt and another five singing the praises of a pair of shoes. There might be very little overlap between these groups, but I still see this and think "well, everyone has this top and skirt and shoes, and they are all versatile additions to my wardrobe." The sheer quantity of reviews on certain "it" items kind of tricks me into thinking that everyone maintains a lifestyle that include all of the it items. I know this is completely silly and am still working on getting over this mentality. The other hurdle for me is getting over obsession with specific pieces. I am ashamed to admit that there were a few times when I passed on something at sale time, later realized that I actually really wanted the item and then ended up jumping through hoops trying to track it down and/or ended up paying more than retail on ebay. Because of these experiences, I tend to hesitate when I decide to pass on a sale item because I worry that I'll change my mind later and then end up paying even more to get it. Telling myself that something just as good will come along in the future works sometimes, but not always. I often shop with something very specific in mind and don't settle for anything less than perfect, sometimes searching for months before I find something that meets my needs. This strategy does help me make fewer purchases that I feel lukewarm about, but it also makes it harder to get over missing a "perfect" item that gets away. I realize that the problem is that I shouldn't be feeling that any particular item is that special and irreplaceable. Do any of you ladies have advice on letting go and overcoming the feeling of missing out on something? One last problem for me when it comes to Anthropologie in particular is the return policy. I end up impulse buying more often because the return policy is so lenient. But because there is no time limit, I tend to give myself an infinite amount of time to decide whether or not I want to keep something and end up collecting a lot of unworn items with price tags. I make a greater effort to assess purchases quickly for retailers with a 30-day policy. Do "use it within x number days or let it go" rules work for anyone else? This is all pretty embarrassing for me to admit and I hope it doesn't come back to bite me in the butt! Thank you for giving us a place to discuss these issues!

http://effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com/ : Alert! Protecting yourself from online tranasction scams

Yes, I was just thinking this! The situation is absolutely awful and I'm feeling sicker and sicker reading other peoples' accounts, but if anything it's at least gotten me to reflect on my own habits. Suddenly, I also feel like taking a break from Anthropologie and pruning my feed of the blogs that are just about shopping without any other content. I'm looking forward to hearing others' thoughts on spending in the discussion tomorrow, though.

http://effortlessanthropologie.blogspot.com/ : Anthropologie\'s SALE has fallen into our laps!!

I don't think that's misguided at all and I agree completely. What she did was completely unacceptable- misleading customers and holding their money hostage is a very serious offense and I'm shocked to hear about it- but it bothers me that people outside of this community are now using this opportunity to attack her for completely unrelated issues. I'm glad that that isn't happening here and I'm glad you've taken Neelo's suggestion below. For what it's worth I think that distancing yourself falls more on the "justice" side than the "vengeance" side; it's giving someone space to make amends but also asserting that you're not okay with that kind of behavior. (I also think it was a mistake and not a malicious attempt to scam anyone as I've seen this happen a lot with inexperienced freelance artists and etsy crafters, but it was a very serious mistake and I'm not so sure it won't be repeated. I guess time will tell, and I wouldn't blame anyone for not trusting her in the future even if this is resolved.) Lots of respect for handling this fairly, by the way. It can't be easy to distance yourself from someone you've collaborated with in the past.
