Dang! Those look really good and all seem like they are recent releases - fun! I don't know why it is more exciting when they are new or just released and still have that new book "smell", but they are :) I really want to get my hands on those Mafi books this summer.

I keep hearing about the McGarry books, looking forward to your take on them :) Enjoy and hope you can keep to your mood. I am a total mood reader, I have been grabbing a lot of paranormal YA and think I might need a break soon http://lostinsidethecovers.wordpress.com/2013/06/...

Wonderful post/rant/opinion piece. I agree, I read a lot and a lot of different things, always have. People freak out when 1. they realize how much I read and 2. what I read. But I guess my defense is that I have read a lot of popular literature and classics and for some weird reason I remember A LOT of author names, so you know when people name drop celebrities? I guess I do that with authors, whether I have read them or not, which shuts most people up without my trying. My husband makes fun of me "oh, that looks like a think piece" or something like that, I hide any romance covers when I used to ride the subway, but when Harry Potter was new, EVERYONE on the subway was reading it. So there.
My guess is that everyone likes to feel superior. It seems to be a very human trait. We put other people down to feel better about our choices, ourselves and our lives. I am not saying it is right, but I would say, what makes that person feel like bashing my stuff? Why do they feel inferior to me that they make fun of me? I feel sorry for them actually. Not that it is always easy to handle, I want to lash back, but I try to just remain open, ask what books they DO recommend and go from there. Like politics, I don't debate those things unless I just feel like arguing! :)
Also, there are a LOT of articles about YA these days because it is selling so well and there is so much of it available. AND by writing opinion pieces against it writers get a LOT of response (any response is a good response for opinion stuff). So, I can see them being inflammatory and derogatory just to fan the flames and get new comments. Attention hounds.
