You are incredibly brave for taking on that challenge, because I'm quite certain I couldn't manage it well. Even if I was in a position where I didn't have to work, I'm not sure I would have the necessary patience. It's my own short-coming. But I give big kudos for recognizing what wasn't working, and making the change. I hope this is a really positive experience and you see the growth that isn't happening at school.

But what if they end up liking staying home and not doing anything fun? Then what? I need to know this because I'm sure this is coming my way at some point, and it's handy to have the answers ahead of time.

My Whac-A-Mole Life : No, It\'s Not Okay

Dude, what's with the pony tail holders? For reals, my son does that to me, and went through a phase of obsession with my hair clips. He even had a little nest of them squirrel away under his bed. But hey, I feel ya. Things that seem trivial are things we have to stay on top of, because in a few short years they will become bigger issues to tackle.

Wow, those are some serious chores. And as soon as she's mastered them, send her over. I'll gladly pay her to do those things at my house. Then she can buy all the little blue toys she wants. And I agree with Lizbeth, at least it wasn't Target. You guys were probably not even noticed at Walmart.

I can imagine how stressful that must be. Not only is it a hurtful thing to say, but as he gets older, it could cause a peer to react in an aggressive manner toward him. I'm sure he heard it from someone else, and just needs to understand the power of his words. I'm sure it will be okay, and you will turn this into a teachable moment.

My Asperger's Teen : Scarred for Life: Why My Son Hates School

That's awful, just awful. People just don't understand how sensitive our kids are, any kids really, but especially our kids. Mine is "high functioning" and is often thought of as simply "misbehaving". What you need is Mrs. W's home phone number. That way you can call her in the middle of the night and let her hear the night terrors. I mean, it's the least she can do, right?
