My current favorite book is Red Rising by Pierce Brown. I'm also really looking forward to Scott Lynch's new book in the Gentlemen Bastards series.

I absolutely love the Terre D'Ange cycle by Jacqueline Carey. It is one of my favorite series of all times. In fact, some of us bloggers are getting together to do a group read of the first book, in May. I am really looking forward to sharing Kushiel's Dart with a group of book enthusiasts.

Jim Butcher and the Dresden series is like brain candy! I still have the latest to read, but have continuously loved this series as well.

While I quite enjoy mulled wine, just like Lily, I could also go for some roasted goose. Though I would leave off the laudnum, of course. Happy Holidays!

My husband made strawberry shortcakes for my birthday, all from scratch. They were super good!

I had to giggle a little at Rule #7 - no offense, but I was thinking about that part of the culture are the smells of a place - think before plumbing was in style.

So, with that in mind, I would choose Constantinople, before it was Christianized. So many cultures have come and gone through that locale.

Your comments about stripping caught my eye and your little school fauxpas made me laugh. In the 2nd grade we had to do a homework assignment - ask our parents what our last name meant. I asked my dad, who joked it meant Chicken Thief. Yep. School sent a note home on that one.

I've never been to a strip bar myself, but my man says that they are usually filled with drunk and desperate men. The strippers who work bachelor parties seem to have more fun.

Sounds like one to pay attention to when I feel like reading an inspirational book. I have read one of his novels before and there was some gender disparity. Did you notice any such issue in this book?

I keep hearing really good things about this author. I have read only 1 of his books (all the ladies were mothers or sex objects - all minor, minor roles). Yet, I would say the book would have been 1 of my favorites of all time if there had not been this gender issue. Perhaps it was only that book. His story telling ability itself is excellent.

This new book looks intriguing on many levels and I look forward to your review.

I prefer time travel with purpose. The accidental time travel is always so easy to write into a plot to make it more interesting. But to build a plot around intentional time travel - that takes some skill and thought.

Thank you for the chuckle. Definitely going to use the 'measure twice, cut once' sharpie trick. I worked at a place that had an open, unisex change room. It was built back before women were common in the workforce, let alone doing heavy, manly work that required a respirator. I have lots of great stories about that.
