I still can't get past what the judges said when they kicked out Anne - "do we REALLY want someone who will deliver a pretty room week after week?"

Um, YES? Is that really a con? Someone who knows what they are doing? How is that bad? Where is Candace? Where is Sabrina? Karen MacAloon? Is there ANYthing on HGTV besides House Hunters and Property Brothers? This is why I can no longer veg out with HGTV on a Saturday or Sunday morning getting inspiration. There aren't ANY real design shows on anymore that are relevant to regular people with a budget and not a crew of people showing up with a giant budget and free labor. Renovation Raiders? Gimme a break. That has no relevance to anyone.

As far as Design Star, I pretty much know going into it that they won't pick anyone I would watch, and they didn't surprise me. The year they picked a hair dresser as design star, that was it. I don't think they even CARE about finding a new designer, I think HGTV Star generates enough revenue on it's own and that's the sole reason they produce it. Finding a designer is an afterthought.

I love it! I really, really, really want a sewing machine. I have been on a knitting kick - I made a Honey Cowl for my mother-in-law and am frantically trying to make as many hats as possible in the next week. Here's a link to the Cowl, which I love so much I want to make one for myself too - http://notinadequate.com/2012/12/14/nailed-it-or-...

Aw! Look how much Naia loves her brother! That's the best, isn't it?

She is so cute! I can see in her face how spunky she must be.

I have that exact same debate as we travel. A great deal of the room in the trailer is devoted to books. I am perfectly happy with my e-reader, and occasionally wish they made a sturdier version for kids. But not have a bin of books to pick through and read simultaneously and feel the pages and look at the illustrations and show to each other...? I can't take that away from them.

How rude! I am also the same way - conscious of handling adult conflict in an appropriate manner and keeping Bitchy Deb in check. I pity that woman's children - such a narrow view, it's sad. Your poor baby. I would be furious.

Last summer, I got a pedicure and when I got home, my kids wanted one too. I didn't see any reason my son should be excluded because of ridiculous gender stereotype when all he wanted was some special mama time. So I bought a selection of orange, blue, and green polish and gave my son and daughter mani-pedis.

And then a friend of mine came over and stage whispered, "why is HE wearing NAIL POLISH?'' like I didn't notice or something. She didn't go any further, but I was ready.
