Big Hollywood : HBO Doc 'Reagan': President Shrewd, Smart, and In Charge; Would Not Have Been Tea Party Fan

Very strongly anti-immigration? Hardly. The tea party's primary issue is fiscal responsibility. To the extent that immigration places a burden on the existing welfare state, the tea party is most certainly not in favor of it, but if it is illegal and we know who is coming in and that they are coming in order to work, the tea party is not going to be opposed to it. This is along the same lines of "Reagan could never get elected in today's 'extreme' Republican party." That is absolutely laughable. They conveniently have amnesia that the ivory tower liberals hated Reagan when he was in power every bit as much as they hate the tea party of today.

Big Hollywood : Netflix, Redbox, and the Future of Hollywood

I think Redbox and Netflix appear to two distinctly different segments and they are both good at what they do and I don't think either company is going anywhere. Redbox is great for impulse rentals when you are at the grocery store and it focuses on the new releases. Netflix is aimed at getting you an abundance of inexpensive content for a very fair price. It's only slightly less convenient in terms of there is a 2 day turnaround (for me, at least) for exchanging discs by mail, but the selection is vast and deep, and the streaming service is very high quality and convenient. If you're a true moviephile like I am, Netflix fits my needs perfectly. For a mom on the go, Redbox is probably a better service.

The Black Sphere : Is Gov't or Are Doctors Meaner?

In Obozo's America, it won't be Democrat Orval Faubus' National Guard keeping the less fortunate out of the hospitals, it will be the throngs of deadbeats who are all of a sudden entitled to get the best healthcare in the world for free. Even under managed care, which is way too common these days, people don't have an incentive to keep their health care costs low because they don't incur much of the cost when they use services. People should get emergency care regardless of their ability to pay and I'm not opposed to the government contributing to health savings accounts for the less fortunate to use as they see fit. But the fact is that not everyone is entitled to every single cutting edge miracle cure. The Democrats paint a picture of people dying in the streets due to evil insurance companies. I don't see any evidence of that being true. They also make outright lies about insurance companies dropping sick people from their policies in order to save money. That practice has been illegal for decades. Ideally, people should be able to own their own insurance policies so that if they lose their jobs, they aren't stuck without insurance when COBRA runs out. What the Democrats are doing will not fix anything, and it will make our existing problems much worse.

Big Hollywood : Top 25 Left-Wing Films: #2 – ‘Apocalypse Now’ (1979)

Easily one of the best movies ever by any standard. So many great scenes, especially the helicopter scene with "Ride of the Valkyries". So many great lines of dialogue, the greatest being "Charlie don't surf."

The Black Sphere : King's Real Legacy

Kevin, we have much to be thankful for in this country, and the legacy of Martin Luther King is right at the top. But we cannot give up and declare King's victory yet, even though his vision has triumphed in the hearts and minds of nearly all Americans. The Democrats and the unions that were once standing in front of the school buildings to keep the black kids out are now standing in front of the buildings to keep the black kids in their crappy government monopolized schools. Until parents can more easily move their kids to better schools than the ones that are in the bad neighborhoods, the culture of poverty will persist. I truly believe that school choice is the most important civil rights issue of our time.

The photography was spectacular. Each little trip was interesting and served a purpose. And you can't help but dearly love Sarah Palin and her family after watching the show. For someone who is such a pariah to the mainstream media to open up her life like that takes some real courage.

Love the music, hate his politics. His concerts are nothing short of amazing, particularly when he plays with the E Street Band. I have to ignore his leftist kook speech when he's not playing music, but when he shuts up and sings, I'm hooked. Great songs, great albums and GREAT concerts. He has still made some great American music.

I have HEARD of the Koch brothers, but I have no idea who they are or what they do, other than that they contribute to conservative and libertarian causes. I am pretty sure, though, that they haven't toppled the currency of four countries and acted as a Nazi collaborator like the left's benefactor George Soros. I also know that any tea party I've been to, I paid for my own train ticket, parking, food and tea party paraphernalia.

Big Hollywood : Entertainment Spending Increases Everwhere But at the Movies. Why?

They are marketing the wrong movies. Green Zone and Fair Game failed for obvious reasons, but their marketing budgets could have been put towards something that would have resonated better with audiences. I saw plenty of great movies this year, but I try to avoid a lot of the mass-marketed tripe that Hollywood puts out.

Big Government : Charge NYC Union Leaders with Negligent Homicide

This is a public issue that was intentionally neglected. Compare this to the public outrage over BP, who may have under-reported the extent of their oil leak, but that was an accident, no matter what caused the leak in the first place. In the case of these city workers, there was clearly a malicious and selfish intent that has affected commerce, caused at least one death and paralyzed the city more than it should have.

Big Hollywood : Richard Chamberlain: Homophobia Keeps Gay Actors in the Closet

When you start to define yourself solely by your sexuality and DEMAND that everyone reaps praise upon your bedroom habits, you will be defined by your sexuality, not your acting. Elton John is gayer than a Lady GaGa concert, but he makes damn good music and he's not particularly politically active. And he played at Rush Limbaugh's wedding knowing that it would make the libs and the gays angry. Knowing he's gay doesn't affect my ability to enjoy Rocket Man.

Big Hollywood : Two Upcoming International Films Examine America's Role in War On Terror

Of course, Gina Gershon was rumored to have been the mistress of former president Bill Clinton. I just cannot fathom how the left interprets any acknowledgement of Islamic terror as some obvious form of xenophobia. We are simply reacting to the events of the past ten years and to the outspoken threats of those who wish to harm us. I suppose the left is always downplaying whatever the threat of the moment is. They downplayed the Cold War at the time too.

The Black Sphere : America's Metrosexual Military

I don't think this is going to be a huge problem. There are already gays in the military. My guess is that many of them will just say "I'm gay, just want to get that out of the way, please don't think any differently of me." And that will be that. Hopefully. That being said, I think this has more to do with liberal politically correct ideology getting into our military than anything. Liberals called Republicans racist when we had a black Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, a black Secretary of State, a Hispanic Attorney General and a black Supreme Court justice. They really don't care about those things any more than they care about gays being in the military. They simply care about their liberal ideology being advanced. Somehow I think the liberals intend that the DADT repeal undermines the military, but I think they will be wrong.

Michael Moore's use of ambush interviews on politicians is brilliant and also typically hilarious. However, to me it has the opposite effect than what Moore intends. The fact is that most of our politicians are too stupid to be given the power of regulating every aspect of our lives and doling out exactly how much wealth each person is worthy of. He is totally justifying conservatives' belief in limited government, despite his belief in totalitarianism socialism.

NewsReal Blog : Michael Moore vs. WikiLeaks: "SiCKO Was Not Banned in Cuba"

As if we needed Michael Moore's next communist propaganda film "Capitalism: A Love Story" to realize that he is a dedicated "fellow traveler". I'm SURE that movie is being shown in Cuba. Heck, that one is probably being shown in North Korea to the 100 people who have electricity. As Ronald Reagan said: "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing in all of its blessings. The inherent vice of socialism is the unequal sharing in all of its misery " I suppose we should just chalk up Michael Moore's ill-gotten wealth to the first part of that maxim.
