Shaun in the City : I Experienced a Miracle and I'm Not a Loon

I drove off a cliff once, and had to climb back up the cliff after the accident to get help. I only had one stitch (I think they had to do SOMETHING before they released me from the hospital, is the only reason I got that stitch). I've always called it luck. You're really making me see it for what it was, but I'm too frightened to admit. It's too big... It's awesome. Thank you for sharing

When you see the world differently, on a bigger (eternal scale), things look different. When you see things from the level of this world, it all looks bad. That being said: “Your post wasn’t big enough!” “Your words were too small!” “God’s love is louder than that!” “God’s love is more 3D than that!” “You did a poor job capturing its magnitude! You’re insane for thinking WordPress could contain the God of the universe! No blog post could ever hope to hold his greatness of God!”

My pastor used to say Deuteronomy 25:11-12, which they wouldn't get until they looked it up later and realized they were punked: NASB - "If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity." He and his friends would find the strangest verses they could, just for the purpose of answering the life verse question. :D In kind, I choose 2 Kings 2:23-24, since I'm bald :D: NKJV - "Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."

Wild at Heart and Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge. Changed my life and challenged me, but I can't get anyone else to read them, and some people I talk to have an ENTIRELY different take away from what the books meant than I did!

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : One letter that changes everything.

I'm reading "Confessions" by ST Augustine right now. He confesses everything from his time before knowing Christ. It makes him human and vulnerable. I believe that kind of person is more able to help and influence without being dragged down by others pointing out his flaws. He never hid them, never pretended to be a perfect human, and, in doing so, gives permission for us "normals" to seek Christ like him without feeling we aren't a "special Christian" limited to baking casseroles for pot-lucks. We're children of God with the same Holy Spirit. The illustration, at the end, of the disciples checking Jesus' scars for proof of hope, resurrection, and rebirth, instead of being sources of shame - brilliant.

My first instinct is to demand a lot of answers. Calming down, I think I'd be better just listening. Realizing a little more about the situation, I think we'd have to go out and introduce him to people. Maybe get on the news while he walked on water or something. I can't believe my first two impulses are about me, when the opportunity to bring people to God would be immense.

I used to listen to Eminem and Butt Hole Surfers, arguing I liked the music and wasn't affected by the words.
You're right that it is wrong. That was the point. He's talking about what he did BEFORE he became a real Christian. It was my first though on reading, too: "How can he be saying this is ok?!" After reading it again I believe it was an example of how, in that period of his life, he carried a Costco and a Christian "card," but neither was real. I don't think he meant it as acceptable behavior. What do you think?

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : The last option.

I just heard the song "Lead Me" by Sanctus Real, and was thinking about how it's the story of my life from a year and a half ago when I stopped drinking and decided to truly follow God and be a man for my Family. While I was still thinking about that, this post came into my inbox. I can't wait to share the change in my life, now that I know how to explain it. You've helped release me from self-imposed doubt. I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one who regrets years of an un-qenuine relationship with God. I've had a fear that people wouldn't believe I was truly different and would say, "You've always been a Christian, what's different now." It's so hard to explain, but so amazing on this side of the change. It is amazing to know Him as our ONLY option, and know that He is more than enough!
