UGH. That cover. It's so beautiful. It sounds so beautiful though - a mix between contemporary and sci fi and death and heartbreak, from what it seems like? I'm always up for that combo though. Because I like pain. (...I am not mentally sane, honestly) I loved your review, Valerie <3

I do so want to get to this; it sounds wonderful. And it'll be interesting, since I haven't read any book with a gender fluid MC. AND IT SOUNDS SO GOOD. I'm already hooked at that title.

DAMMIT WHY DO TIME TRAVEL BOOKS HAVE PRETTY COVERS??? they're so gorgeous. I'm so sorry they didn't work out for you - I can feel you, since I find them hard to keep up with. I can never tell what's happening half the time. That's partially my haphazard mind, partially because they're confusing. Lovely reviews, Lucia <3

I can feel this - executing the final scene after a big build up is often the problem I find in books. Like...was this it?? After half the book was spent on that plot device?? I'm really looking forward to Wrath and the Dawn, especially because it's something close to my culture. ALSO BECAUSE I'VE READ THE ARABIAN NIGHTS. Recognizing the language/foods/traditions will be fun XD I loved reading your review. Lovely review, Valerie <3

...that is just creepy. Very, very creepy. Like, what even? Making out over dead bodies and thinking about your dead father ONCE over breakfast is not the best way to deal with death.

But at the same time, I think more and more books are focusing on death - deaths of parents, best friends, deaths of someone you barely knew and how they affect them. YA contemporary's increasingly, so I think desensitizing is more often found in fantasy, honestly. This was SUCH a good discussion, it really made me think. Great post, Jeann <3
