I love Taco Don Jose's. I'm glad they have a new place in the same part of town. That shopping center can afford to be revitalized. This sounds like a good thing.

I rode the bus for the first time today. I have a bus stop right by my house, but have never felt that it was worth paying for it, when I could drive for about the same price and for a fraction of the time. But if it's free, I'm happy to ride the bus and not use my car.

I would love to see Eldora expand. That being said, I would prefer option 3 because I love hiking on Middle Boulder Creek and would hate to see that taken away from the general population.

I was at a place in Denver yesterday called The Source - it's an old industrial building in 5Points which has been converted into a public market, with restaurants, a coffee roaster, a bakery, etc. I could see something cool like that working well with this building too.

I lived in a town in Hungary which was set up in a similar way as Longmont is now - with a major road running right through their downtown. About 1999 they closed off that road completely to cars and turned in into a pedestrian area. People were sceptical about what it would do to the city, but it has worked very well. Traffic was rerouted around that area and it worked fine.
I realize this is not Europe, and there is less of a culture of pedestrian only zones in city centers here, but I think that limiting traffic on the downtown blocks of Main Street even more and creating easier alternate routes for people to take would be a good thing. Longmont has been and will continue to grow. I think the city should do some serious long term planning for what they want the Longmont of the future to look like - as the people in Boulder did back in the 60's. This might include a bridge or something to avoid the train stopping traffic on Main Street throughout the day.
I do think though that what Longmont does downtown with Art Walk and the festival on Main are great things which encourage people to come downtown.

Do we really need a Trader Joe's? Isn't Lucky's basically the same thing, only more local?

It would be great if the city could reroute traffic, so that there are fewer cars driving down Main Street.

I like the building - I think it adds a lot to downtown Longmont.
Does anyone know why the 7-11 shut down? Is the city planning to do something with that space?
