He is such a natural leader, and I can't find an issue on which I disagree with him. He seems so unflappable - and to me that says he's working off of core convictions, so deeply ingrained that to act otherwise would betray everything he stands for. My God, THIS is the leadership we need at the national level. I know now is not his time, but soon... soon.

Thank you for sticking up for what is right! I have a dear friend who in younger days had abortions which she deeply regrets. Every time she sees a young adult who would be about the ages of her children she says she is reminded of what she chose to do. It has taken much therapy, prayer and soul-searching over several decades for her to come to terms with these decisions. Fortunately she has been able to turn these events to good by volunteering as a counselor for young women in crisis pregnancies. Abortion carries with it lifelong physical and mental health risks that the Left refuses to accept as fact and works feverishly to suppress. It is absolutely nothing to joke about. Keep beating the drum, Kevin, and all HBers. Call anyone who would make light of taking an innocent life on the carpet. Be a light in a dark world.

I will vote, ABO (anyone but obama) -- that said, I don't like Newt, its a character thing. People can say anything, change their standing on any social issue, even change their wife, but you CANNOT change the core of your character.

I can not thank you enough for sharing this video! (the first few minutes, at least) I was just discussing this earlier today with a good friend. I know from personal experience that when someone lobbies false accusations against you like that, it completely catches you off-guard. I had virtually the same reaction that he did when this happened to me a few years ago. The accusations were so ludicrous and numerous that I was dumbfounded and didn't even know where to begin to counter them. The result...immediate freeze-up. I suspected in my gut, watching the debate, that this is what had happened to Newt. Thanks again!

Johnson, this address was followed by extensive televised commentary by, among others, Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Milton Friedman." and "Since 1966, the speech has been followed on television by a response or rebuttal by a member of the political party opposing the President's party. The response is typically broadcast from a studio with no audience. In 1970, the Democratic Party put together a TV program with their speech to reply to President Nixon, as well as a televised response to Nixon's written speech in 1973.[19] The same thing was done by Democrats for President Reagan's speeches in 1982 and 1985." From this, it looks like somewhere between 1945 and 1965, it got increasingly partisan until the need for a rebuttal was perceived.
