Interesting analysis. Makes no sense, but interesting. Sounds like something Al Gore or Chicken Little ("The sky is falling; the sky is falling!) dreamed up.

Mike, I don't think any individual can have the "right" to rule another by force. Thus, there rightfully ought be no such thing as a government. Who needs a country?

Ludwig von Mises Institute : When High Taxes Lead to Revolution - Peter St. Onge - Mises Daily

Taxation is indistinguishable from the crime of extortion, except it isn't a crime because the state needs your money and taxes are the easiest, safest way for the state to take it from you. The rulers get to say what are crimes and what are not. Tax collectors are immunized by the state, or they would all be in prison for extortion and/or aggravated menacing. The state does not like others extorting. Taxes are enFORCED. They depend on violence or the threat thereof. And violence only and inevitably begets more violence. As a society that relies on force and violence (viz., taxes) for so many things, including for many even their daily bread, we can neither hope nor expect to be free from violence in other aspects of our lives. The slaughter of innocent children in Sandy Hook Elementary and Columbine High may be traceable to our reliance on taxes. Violence begets violence. A tax revolt at a lot lower number than 70 percent is possible when enough people realize taxation is extortion at any level, and simply refuse to pay.

WGNO-TV : Tax Filing Day Helps Caesar Make War On We The People

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and render unto God what is God," means exactly what it says. Since none of those present when Jesus uttered that brilliant response to the question, "Should we pay Caesar's tax," his response was a resounding rebuff to tax collectors then and now. Give them nothing. As Psalm 24 verse 1 puts it, "The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it," which leaves nothing for that plundering, enslaving pedophile, Caesar.

New Kind of Mind : The Difference Between Libertarianism and Anarchism

The first libertarian anarchist was none other than Jesus of Nazareth, and it is from him--not any socialist--that both are concepts derived. "“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12) By this measure, all are equal, no one can rule or tax others, at least not without the other's explicit consent. What could be more libertarian or anarchic? “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and the most important commandment. The second most important commandment is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ The whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments.” No one can love their neighbor and rule over them or tax them. Jesus was the first Voluntaryist (viz., nonviolent libertarian anarchist)

Close, but no cigar. I'm a Fruedster. And analyzing your comments here (except for you, I'm likely the only one with sufficient time to waste reading them), I've determined with apodictic certainty that you are suffering from an arrogance or superiority complex, which you adopt to hide a innate sense of inferiority. I'm sure your problem and attendant troubles are the result of a traumatic childhood experience, which you have repressed beyond your capacity to recognize the cause or its deleterious effect. Trapped as you are between superior and inferior complexes, you are caught in a squirrel-cage existence, chasing your tail from one Austrian Economic site to another trying your best to refute logic with logic and accomplishing nothing more than making a scorning fool of yourself. But do not despair, you can be cured if you seek psychiatric help..

IMHO, "productive" work is not something someone working for government can do. When the government sends a man out to build a road he will be paid with tax revenues or borrowed money to be repaid with tax revenues. The tax revenues will be acquired by taxing the private sector, reducing the funds available to hire someone to do productive work, like build a road. So it would seem to be a Mexican stand off with the productive work of the government employee being offset by the loss of productive work by the private employee--except a much greater amount is required to fund the labor of the government employee because he will be a brother-in-law of the government administrator, who hired him and who himself needs to be paid munificently, and the government employee will be working at half the output of a private sector worker because he only got the job because his brother-in-law felt sorry for him 'cause he'd couldn't hold a job for being lazy. And then there is the tax collector and tax administrator, and Inspector General to be paid before the gubbermint employee, and....well, you know the rest probably better than I do or you wouldn't be calling yourself tp.

I took more courses in Econ and Finance than in my English major because I got my few good grades in them. Although I couldn't recognize it at the time, the Econ department at Miami U. in Oxford, OH was thoroughly Keynesian back then. Went to my 50th reunion in 2010 and sat through the "featured" Econ class for the attending alumni taught by one of the leading lights of the department, and guess what? King Keynes still reigns! Did not make a contribution to the alumni campaign. Btw, two of my personal "heroes" (heroes is an exaggeration) in the arena of Finance both have engineering degrees (Mech and Chem) from Case Institute in Cleveland, OH. Keep the faith, my friend and thanks for your comments.

Ditchdigging is not an economic stimulus if government is paying the digger with dollars taken from the wood choppers--or anyone else in the private sector. Individuals produce wealth, governments confiscate wealth and spend it foolishly.

True. As I recall, my Econ 101 course used Samuelson's text. I don't remember much about it but I know it didn't excite me. It took articles in THE FREEMAN by Ludwig von Mises and other Austrians to excite me about economics, the science. And nothing, but nothing ever excited me about economics like Mises HUMAN ACTION. You're also right about the fact that hardly anyone actually reads Keynes' GT, which is a damn shame for if read in combination with Hazlitt's THE FAILURE, the two would cure anyone of Keynesianism.

Urging the government to go the extra furlongXXX mileXXX century in--what else--stimulating the economy, Krugman wrote in his November 10, 2008, NYT column, "What saved the economy, and the New Deal, was the enormous public works project known as World War II, which finally provided a fiscal stimulus adequate to the economy’s needs." No further proof of this man's and this newspaper's utter immorality not to mention economic stupidity is needed. If the economy continues to languish due to "progressive stimulation,' watch for The Times to begin pounding the drums for a war in, say, the Crimea for its public-works value and as a fiscal stimulus.

Wilson, Good for you. it is a lot of work, but do finish readying Keynes GT. Follow up (or read it first) with Henry Hazlitt's THE FAILURE OF THE NEW ECONOMICS, which deconstructs the GT chapter by chapter, nonsensical theory by nonsensical proclamation from beginning to end. In the final round, Keynes is left bleeding and naked of any wisdom whatsoever flat on his back on the mat with you the referee standing over him saying, "You're out!" If you really want to dismiss Keynesian nonsense from your mind forever, continue with Hazlitt's other manifesto exposing the Keynes' fallacies and outright frauds, THE CRITICS OF KEYNESIAN ECONOMICS..

Jaycen, you poor dear, you have been brainwashed by your rulers' propaganda and you don't even know it. Get it? Your above explanation of a clause sanctioning slavery is poppycock, fed to you by other constitutionalists embarrassed by the indisputable fact that their beloved document sanctioned that God-awful practice of human bondage. If your effort to explain away that sad fact had even a shred of truth to it, rest assured that it would have been mentioned iby Madison, Hamilton or Jay in The Federalist Papers, which you have at least implied, you have read. Do you see it in there? The word slavery was left out because the authors were embarrassed about the fact that they had been out flanked by the slavers into accepting that evil practice into the government they planned to establish. The absence of the word slavery was an attempt by those who opposed slavery to save face. It was by no means an attempt to abolish slavery, or if it was, it was an insipid attempt that proved to be worthless. To continue to insist the constitution didn't sanction slavery is ludicrous if not intellectually dishonest. Furthermore, I notice that you haven't responded to Bob Robertson's more important point that in sanctioning forcible taxation the Constitution thereby allowed (the equivalent of) slavery. The distinction between slavery and forcible taxation is slim to none. It apparently upsets you to be called a slave because you are the victim of your beloved state's taxation, but you haven't offered any rational rebuttal to that accusation--except to deny it and say it is beneath even considering its truth, which is what it is. If you truly believe you are not your rulers' slave-equivalent, please explain. P.S. If you value human life, the compromise you say was smart was actually utterly stupid. It was in part responsible for the early deaths of many hundreds of thousands of slaves during a period some seventy plus years, and the deaths of 620,000 combat casualty's in your state's infernal Civil War.

Jaycen, your supercilious lecturing on how to understand the Constitution would lead one to assume you had read it and understood it, which you evidently have not. Let me help you: Please go back and re-read Article I, Section 2, and ask yourself who those "other Persons" are who were counted as partial persons??? And ask yourself why the authors found it necessary to distinguish those "other Persons" from "free persons?" Now, do you see how the authors of the Constitution, in a most cowardly fashion with words of not-too-subtle subterfuge, sanctioned, authorized, permitted and gave legal aid and encouragement to the existing institution of slavery? If you continue to insist a sanction of slavery isn't in there, you are being manifestly dishonest. I notice by your profile that you call yourself a constitutionalists. I should be more gentle in my criticism of your position, for I once thought of myself as one too. It was only when voluntaryist Carl Watner pointed out the inconsistency of that position with the precepts of liberty that I threw away my pocket copy of the constitution and became a full-fledged voluntaryist. Carl is more persuasive than I am because he is truly a gentle man without my many shortcomings. If you visited his website, http://voluntaryist.com/, and looked at some of the material there on this subject, you may be willing to surrender your devotion to the Constitution and the imperialist state it created.

Have certainly studied all of the items you mentioned and more. My copy of THE FEDERALIST PAPERS is worn to a frazzle from use during the time when I unfortunately could be fairly described as a constitutionalist. Did you read in the Constitution where it sanctions slavery? And taxation? Are you aware of how the U.S. government of that time treated (and often murdered) their neighbors who preferred King George III to King George the First of the United Colonies? Are you aware of with what exceiptionalism the pseudo-Americans colonists and subsequently citizens (viz., subjects) treated the real Americans who were here first? For a more complete understanding of the time, I'd suggest the Anti-Federalist Papers, and for a better understanding of the Constitution than you now have, I recommend NO TREASON, THE CONSTITUTION OF NO AUTHORITY by Lysander Spooner. For a real American's take on U.S. exceptionalism, you must read WHERE WHITE MEN FEAR TO TREAD, by Russell Means, or go to the website lakotanation.org and read some of the content. Read about U.S. troops massacres of Filipinos during this nation's brutal conquest of those islands. And if you really want to dig into U.S. exceptionalism, read ROGUE STATE and also FREEING THE WORLD TO DEATH, by William Blum--a socialist, but nevertheless a credible historian.
