Not seeing where you got that anybody was offended.

OP just isn't responsible for disproving your claims.

Seriously, Google can prove you wrong!

I will never understand the arrogance required of somebody to make the claim that anybody following any religion has a mental disorder. If science means anything to you, you won't just toss that out there as easily as you do.

Like, do you even know how insulting it is for other people, atheists very much included, that actually are diagnosed and suffering from a mental disorder or illness to be so casually thrown under the bus when you anti-theists feel the need to stroke your egos?

Religion is a choice. Mental disorders are not. Fuck you, man.

It's amazing and disgusting the things people will defend instead of helpless children and other victims of real, horrible, crimes.

Thank you for picketing, even just the two times.

I know a lot of Christians, and one is a theologian, even, that have read the book and are still Christians. My own mother, for example, goes purely by how "Jesus makes her feel." The idea of him got her through a very hard life, and the book never factored into it. She's a Universalist type of Christian, and they tend to not see that book as all that special.

I love "buybull." It's perfect, and I'm going to borrow it from you.

You'll get no argument there, at least from me. I read it cover to cover in middle school, and was left so disgusted and confused... If Christianity was actually the nice thing my mom tried to make it out to be, I'd still be Christian (because helping people and being decent ended up more important to me than a god, in the end).

I was told it was "God's Word," and everything in it was true and good. Then I got raped at 16 and thought it was my punishment for some obscure thing I didn't do... Then I actually reread it. It wasn't punishment, it was a requirement of being female. That fucked me up for so long!

That's the only reason I have for struggling with completely giving up religion to this day. I've been an atheist for years now, but the thought of going back to a religion (and I've tried many just to see if one would stick), purely for the community, has never gone away. I've never actually gone back into one, but the impulse to go back to the one I was raised with just to belong somewhere is really intense sometimes.
