Yeah, I think 40k has some inherent problems in terms of how far things can shoot and how fast they can move that makes it more deadly as well, but that should have been fixed with a new edition. Changing it now would cause tears.

Do you think using fewer turns would help, or is that just lipstick on a pig?

Well yeah, but then they also get It Will Not Die, and you can do shenanigans with movement where one Carnifex is in front, then in back, etc.

Like I said, not the most competitive. I'm not a huge fan of the ground based HT but I'm giving Swarmy with some guards a try.

I like three carnifexes with devourers running around, buffed up, deleting units off the board. It is a stupid points cost and most good opponents will just ignore it, but I love the look of it. I doubt I'd take it if I was a hardcore tourney player.

I'm really sad that apparently flying MCs don't have Skyfire. What the hell?

With the price hikes it is almost the same price to just buy a gang instead of converting IG models now.

I copied it straight from the rulebook, bro.

If, following the rules for moving assaulting models (see
page 34), any model in an assaulting unit will have to
go through difficult or dangerous terrain as part of its
assault move, the unit must take the relevant terrain
test before moving.

Yeah, you move everything back and start over with a difficult terrain test. Or you roll it and see if you'd have made it anyway. Not very good rules.

I hate how you can't multi-assault with one model. They should fix that for monstrous creatures.
