<description>There are huge logical errors in each of these responses &amp;mdash; one could also attribute the plateau to the introduction of policies like NAFTA (which I don&amp;#039;t support but this refutes MKS&amp;#039; confusing point). What I find most striking in these responses is how each of you ignore the fact that the biggest spikes seemed to take place when republicans are in the white house &amp;mdash; no matter if congress is red or blue.  </description>

<description>what&amp;#039;s funny about the national debt graph in this article is that it is shockingly true.   if you pay attention to it you see the biggest jumps in the national debt during the era of the national debt&amp;#039;s wild exponential growth (which starts roughly with the onset of reaganomics) have come when conservatives are in office. during clinton it almost plateaued. do you still think tax cuts and excessive military spending are the way to go? </description>
