I hate insomnia nights - I always think I should do what you did, get out of bed and read so at least it doesn't feel like wasted time, but I never do so it always does turn out to be wasted time. Glad Twitter wasn't blocked after all! I'm trying to be an early riser, but the late night habit is just so ingrained in me.

"Present" is a beautiful word. I'm not doing One Word this year - for some reason, I've been feeling like there are so many words and I couldn't pick just one. I love what you wrote about being present for life, showing up.

Great post! I tend to go through spells of reading non-fiction, and then going back to another period of reading fiction. With me, it's often because I get really caught up or interested in a particular subject, and I'll spend a few weeks reading everything about the subject that I can get my hands on. Then it kind of fizzles out - I guess I must feel I've learned enough! - and I switch back to fiction. I've also always had a fondness for memoir and biography.
