Mark Watches : Mark Watches 'Hannibal': S02E02 - Sakizuke

I am not ashamed to admit that I turned away and screamed for the entirety of this episode's teaser, oh my God. So incredibly horrifying. I would probably have immediately given up and waited to die in that situation. Aaaaaand Bedelia is officially the smartest character on this show. Every scene with her (in the series, but particularly this episode) is absolutely gripping and electric. The scene in Lecter's office is so frightening, and the scene with Will is just...I don't even know what emotion to attribute to that scene, I was just flailing and grinning and OH MY GOD OH MY GODing the whole time.

Mark Watches : Mark Watches 'Hannibal': S01E12 - Relevés

Georgia's death is probably the most disturbing on the show thus far to me, probably because we a) see it happen, b) to a character we know and love, and c) it's just an awful way to die. Add that to the fact that it happens in such a confined space, and you have a perfect scenario with which to freak me out. Watching it the first time, I'm pretty sure I just deadpanned, "Are you fucking kidding me." at the screen. When re-watching it with my older sister and her fiance, I casually left the room until the teaser was done. My younger sister and I watched this episode live together, and we basically just screamed at the TV for the entire last scene. Also, we were live tweeting, and both of our twitter pages looked completely ridiculous afterwards. All caps and incoherent key smashes and swearing. Same with the episode before, actually, where we yelled and swore a LOT (both irl and on twitter) during the "Please don't lie to me" scene. It's been a long time since I've been as angry with a fictional character as I am with this Hannibal. I mean, I went in familiar with the source material and knowing he's a serial killing cannibal, and I was still unprepared for how horrible he actually is. He's the absolute worst. ETA: Also, I would watch an entire show that was just Bedelia and Hannibal's sessions. Those two are unbelievable together.

The omakes are legit the biggest reason why I recommend people read the manga at some point. I'm not fussed about whether people watch the anime(s) or read the manga first, or at all, but at least read the back of each volume. Because omg. They're especially wonderful after particularly heavy volumes. (See also: all the volumes)

Chuck and Olive's friendship gives me life. Pretty much all the reasons I love them have been stated by other people in the comments of this and other episodes (no competitive jealousy over Ned, respecting one another's feelings, Olive supporting Chuck's need to hide from Ned despite Olive being in love with Ned, etc), but I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of Olive/Chuck BROTP supporters. I just love friendship so much, you guys.

I have to make an effort not to cry every time I watch the scene where Aunt Vivian sings Morning Has Broken (and often when listening to it on the soundtrack as well). At the very least I always tear up. It's so beautiful in so many ways. Uggghhhh MY HEART.

This was the first full episode I ever saw and I nearly DIED FROM THE CUTE. Yeah, I was hooked pretty instantly. When I got around to seeing the first two episodes of the series, I was really surprised about how soon this episode was because there was such a big secret revealed.
Mark Watches : Mark Watches 'Pushing Daisies': S01E02 - Dummy

Fun fact! Kristin Chenoweth singing was the first scene I ever saw of this. I was just getting home and had homework to do, so I couldn't watch the rest of the episode, but I made a mental note that this show looked awesome and tuned in the week after and fell instantly in love. There was a period of time when PD and the first season of Heroes were on at the same time and they were the two shows I'd watch weekly as they came out. That first season of Heroes was so intense that PD was my Happy Place show to come home to afterwards. Good times.

I just...I just needed to come back to the comments to say that I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH AAAUUUUUUGGGHHH It's my favourite television series (rivalled only by Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and that's only because I have a deep sentimental love for Buffy and how it influenced me growing up as a teenaged girl). The cast is flawless, the dialogue is so quirky and delightful and fun, the colours and costumes and sets are eye candy in every frame and features the sweetest/most tragic couple ever. I just flail around from the cute every episode. I'm so, so, so excited that Mark is doing this show. So excited that I have crawled back out of lurker territory again.

Mark Watches : Mark Watches 'Les Miserables'

"For me, my first proper exposure to Les Mis was the tenth anniversary concert" Me too. My sisters and I rented it so often that we inadvertently guilted my dad into buying us tickets to the stage show where it was touring in a city nearby (well...nearby by prairie standards, it was about an 8 hour drive). I also grew up listening to the original broadway cast recording, so, yeah, my affection for Colm is huge. Also, it was cool that Frances Ruffelle was also briefly in it. She's the Eponine a grew up with so she'll always have a special place in my heart (though I think Lea Salonga is my favourite and Samantha Barks is amazing).
