Yes! This is exactly how I felt when I read Just One Year. While in retrospect, I have a problem with Allyson's decision making and life choices hinging on a chance encounter with a random guy, I was totally sucked into Just One Day. I felt ALL. THE. FEELS. And like you found Paris to be a character in and of itself. I was excited to read about Willem's travels thinking all the places he visited would similarly come to life, but the plot and places and even the people, especially Willem, felt stagnant to me. I kept thinking as I turned the pages that his and Allyson's reunion was imminent, and I was so disappointed that it happened with two pages left in the book! I know Foreman can write a good companion novel as Where She Went is one of my all time favorite books, but I was definitely disappointed and unmoved by this one.

Really thoughtful post! Most of the time when commenting I don't sign. I figure if someone is interested, he or she can click on my name or profile and it will direct him/her to my blog. However, when I'm linking up to a challenge, meme, or survey, I do so as "Kristin @ Matched Manuscripts." General commenting feels more personal, but linkys often have so many more participants, so I like to distinguish myself by my blog.

Thanks! My students seem to like it. I started listening to audio books during my commute, which helped me get through Anna Karenina!

Before I started my full time job, I read tons of books. This past week I was off work and my husband was out of town, so I read a book a day, but when I have to go back to work full-time, my reading will drop off. It's unfortunate, but I'm exhausted when I get home. However, I still manage to read more books than the average person - as I'm sure you will. I'm a teacher, and I can tell you I totally agree with your last statement. Everyone is capable of loving to read - they just need to find the right book. I do a project on banned books, and I have had so many students tell me that this was the first time they've read a book all the way through or they never liked to read before or, even better, they are going to keep reading now. It is the best feeling in the world. Happy reading!
