That's a ridicules amount of comments to scroll through, but we all do like to party. No need to enter me in te giveaway. I just wanted to say Happy Birthday and share with you the joy of in real life friends. I've signed up to host a gathering, too, with a brand new in real life Bible study group I'm leading...all because of post I put up on Facebook about doing Leah Adam's study. It is so cool how God works in the details giving us unexpected blessings!

I'll be praying for you while you're gone, as I know that place well and need to walk carefully to keep the balance.

Anne Ortlund's, "Discipline of a Beautiful Woman" triology really helped me get perspective years ago and learn how to live intentionally, making my family a first priority. Her wisdom inspired my living intentionally worksheet, which I use every year to get my priorities in order with the Lord. I'm sharing them for the first time at www.moretobe.com, with the hope and prayers that other women will be blessed by the concreteness of living intentionally before the throne of God.

Enjoy the stillness of being with God, Sara Mae. It will be precious time!

I couldn't agree more and I am so glad you took the time to share this perspective. I've had this conversation regularly with the girls I mentor. Way to go!

Love it! Manifesto. What a brilliant term to us to describe boundaries. Since coming back online this past September, after 11 months away, my unwritten manifesto has been this:

1. What I do online I do for an audience of One, and for His ultimate glory!

2. My time on the computer...doing ministry or other...needs to happen after the kids leave for school and before they get home. I will not get back online until after they are in bed and I shouldn't be rushing them off in order to get online!

3. Before I start I new project online, I will bring the idea to my husband for accountability!

4. "In real life" friendships and ministry needs are important as those online, which means they need my time, too!

5. When I see others doing wonderful things for the glory of God, I will promote them, not compete with them. God intends for the whole body to work together!

6. God has perfectly crafted my unique set of gifts, talents, and passions for His unique purposes, and so I will step out in faith and confidence that what I do has value, online and off!

Laura, this has been a great series! Thanks for sharing it here! And Sarah Mae, thanks for giving her the space!

Awesome, Laura! I really am enjoying your insights. I thought "the other woman" was going to be about jealousy, but this perspective is perfect. We need to be aware of who we are online as well as off.

I also am a huge advocate of a vision statement (long before my training as a life coach began). My statement is:

The vision of More to Be is to see teen through twenty-something gals and today’s women experience life transformed as a personally relevant God enters their lives, gradually making them more bright and beautiful, more like Jesus. Through providing real answers, authentic relationships, mentoring training, life resources, and life coaching, More to Be seeks to impact this generation and the next with relevant Truth.

Thanks so much for this series. Totally enjoying it!

Great questions, Laura. I definitely know it is not money, as my website/blog costs me more than I make off it and I've never pursued that option. Power? Well, I do love to be in charge. I also like to influence others, especially for Christ. But I wouldn't say I'm after power. Fame? Hmm. Yes, like you, I want to be liked, but I don't think I've mastered social media to make it work to fill my needy affirmation hole.

Honestly, I think my struggle is that I so desperately want to share More to Be with others -- all the material God has enabled me to produce for my in real life ministry -- that I get consumed by online opportunities to spread the word to the detriment of real life needs and responsibilities. Then I am frustrated by all that is left undone in the home and family, while not really seeing the fruit online. It is a vicious cycle! My heart is in a good place, initially, but then it gets ugly when I feel like the time investment doesn't add up.

Boundaries in how I spend my time along with a broader vision of what God is doing on His time table is what I need to keep in putting in place, in order to make social media and online ministry behave.
