Dana, Do you know what a shill is? It is someone who is being paid to hype something, but poses as an objective third party. It is the guy who stands in the audience and says, "why that sounds like an amazing product, I will take 20!" Then splits the profits with the vendor. Paul Offit almost never tells people that his vaccine patents have made him millions, and that if the vaccine program is paired down the first vaccine to get pulled from the schedule will be his Rotavirus vaccine (which contains two rogue viruses that cause wasting disease in pigs) which will loose him TENS OF MILLIONS in future profits. Offit has talked himself into such a corner that he and his "Autism Science Foundation" is now telling people that Hannah Poling had brain damage before she was vaccinated. Total lie. He would take the profits, run out for more drinks and serve more customers. He kept this up for four days, serving about 30 people a day. No autism is not genetic. It has some genetic underpinnings, but it is mostly environmental. They mapped the human genome and can't find the "autism gene". They have some weak genetic links to about 5% of autism cases, but millions in gene research has really lead to no better understanding of causation or prevention or treatment or bupkis. And Jenny knows something you don't... there are other things in the vaccine. It is not just dead viruses. Mercury kills brain cells, causes mitochondrial disorders and causes seizures. All three are associated with autism. Aluminum adjuvants kill brain cells and cause autoimmune disorders (including swelling in the brain). Both are associated with autism. Vaccines are cultured in a medium. That is how they grow the 'disease' cells. They are grown in eggs, cow syrum, monkey kidneys, pig parts and human cell lines taken from aborted fetal tissue. Noticed a lot more egg allergies lately? What other live and retro viruses may be in the animal tissues that were used to grow the target virus? Usually we don't find out for years. Did you know that for thirty or so years that Simian Virus 40 (SV-40) was in the Polio vaccine? SV-40 causes cancer. If you get cancer and have a tumor removed, ask if they can test it for SV-40. If it is there, you got that from your polio vaccine. The first Heb B vaccine tested in the 1970's had an unknown virus called "HIV" in it. 80% of the test group, men/women/children, got AIDS. This year they discovered that both of the Rotavirus vaccines contain strains of a disease that causes wasting disease in pigs. They pulled one of them for a week, then declared both safe. They are being injected into 2 month old babies as we speak. We have no idea what this will do to them. Merck's vaccine adjuvant contains peanut proteins. That are being injected into infants. Even though we tell parents not to give peanuts to babies because having them to soon causes allergies. Noticed an increase in peanut allergies in the last thirty years? The government believes that a newly discovered retro virus might be at play in autism. It is called XMRV. My community would like to know if it is any of the vaccines. We have gotten no answers. So I skimmed the first two (the third one is just silly) and they are based on old information and are largely recycled strawman arguments. You might note going back through all the comments I have left on this post, I have not made any of the arguments that they purport to be taking apart, and the arguments I have made are not addressed in those essays. The 2007 one is really outdated. Tons of info has come to light in the last three years. And the second seems to be debunking ten year old theories that have been refined and are better understood today. I didn't read them carefully enough to say this is true of all of it, but there are a lot of straw man arguments here. They are arguing with a parent who has spend one on the internet and heard that mercury and MMR cause autism, with no understanding of the why or how. They are not taking apart any of the points that vaccine safety proponents are talking about today. Worst of all, they are citing Paul Offit. He is a notorious liar. If you know any thing about him he had to pay Jenny McCarthy's favorite charity $5,000 as part of a legal settlement for lying about the director of her charity in his book. He constantly gets caught lying about this stuff, and his vaccine patents have made millions. If you want to have a real discussion about this, I am ABSOLUTELY open to that. But the discussion that goes on in the "skeptic" community is kind of a joke to us. None of them actually get in a room and have a good faith discussion about what the actual concerns are of parents. They just stuff themselves into a chat room or coffee house, insult parents for being morons, decide that they are geniuses for their often irrelevant opinions and declare the debate OVER... even though no actual debate ever took place. It is mutual admiration society, not a critical thinking group. If you want an analysis of one or the other, I will do it, but it will take me hours. So please don't ask me to do it unless you are going to take this seriously and listen to the critique with an open mind. Let me know if you will, and which piece you want me to evaluate, and I will do it. If not, and I don't hear back from you, then I would encourage you to read "Changing the Course of Autism", then go back and see if the skeptic's arguments actually take apart real science and medicine or if they just SEEM to be right because they are better at arguing with the random man on the street.

Perhaps I was not making myself clear enough. We don't have a lower infant mortality rate than we did a hundred years ago... we have a lower mortality rate than almost all the other westernized countries. Yet we also have the highest autism rate. IF higher infant mortality lead to a healthier population (that survived infancy) THEN we would have either a high infant mortality rate as compared to other westernized countries OR a higher autism rate as compared to other westernized countries, but not both. because those 'sickly kids' would be in one category or another. We have both. We have the dying babies AND the sick youngsters. Is that a better explanation?

Someone did the math already (I love the internet). $2,288.37 That is how much each child vaccinated according to CDC schedule will pay to vaccine makers. One of McCarthys suggestions is that we look at going back to the schedules of the 1970s. No epidemics the, and very little autism, etc. So how do you think Pharma feels about that? Doyou think that Merck and co will spend their own money on determining if the current schedule is safe and if they find out it isn't , will gladly go back to giving kids 20 doses instead of 70? It is akin to sticking your head in the sand. check again... Fact is... the US has one of the lowest child mortality rates in the Western world. Our has plummeted in relation to other countires in the last 40 years. 1 in 6 kids in this country has a developmental disability or delay. That is 18% of the population. Asthma, allergies, diabetes... all skyrocketing This 'more kids living, more sick kids' is just wishful thinking.
