Yep, I'll definitely give an author a second chance if their new book sounds interesting enough. I'll be wary, though. This doesn't mean that ALL authors get a second chance - it really depends on the book. Some of my favourite authors have released books I have no interest in reading at all - it goes both ways.

I used to feel bad that I waited until an author I hadn't read yet gave away a book rather than buy it. But then I figured, I'm not stealing it, they're giving it away. And I don't want to shell out for something that could possibly be really bad but hopefully good enough to go buy the paperback. So we win all around.

The general gist I'm getting from the bigger bloggers is that requests can become overwhelming and eventually you'll cut back. It's so funny that it's the complete obvious when book bloggers start out and many want to get in good with the publicists etc... it just takes time and during that time one can become overwhelmed with requests.

Your banners are amazing. I see them all over the web, and they make my blog prettier as well as informing passers-by of what I like to read.

Thank you for all your time and effort.

I feel swearing is like sex in YA - sometimes it's appropriate but I don't want to see it all the time. Equally, if it's completely ignored for absolutely no reason that makes the book completely unrealistic - take sex in YA novel Hush. Hush for example. The two lead characters have such sexual chemistry it's completely unrealistic they'd date for several months without having sex, especially since the male lead likes to sexually assault the female and there's lots of dry humping. At the same time, the fake swearing in House of Night ('poopie') is nowhere near what real teenagers talk like. Either commit or don't, don't be half-assed about it.

It's so great your mother supports your hobby! How wonderful. It's also great that you've learned to split your concentration to spend time with your hubby while blogging. That's a great talent! Well done.

I didn't add Celaena to my list, but she was very close to being on it! I agree with everything you said about her - we are TOLD so much how she's a badass but we are never, ever SHOWN it. Argh! it was SO frustrating.

I gazed at Winter's Shadow by M.J. Hearle for so long in the bookshop that they eventually stopped selling it... now I have to track down a copy. Your haul looks absolutely wonderful. Happy reading!
