Augh, this is why I come to The Toast. Women being nice to other women. Women validating other women. I wish I could hug you all.

Thank you for this. <3 It makes me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one.

The stupid feeling was also tempered by a vague sense of guilt because - look, I think this movie was appallingly sexist, this was the thing that finally unhooked me from the Joss Whedon train and I ain't looking back, and that is a perfectly reasonable reason for me to be upset by. But what they did to Natasha and Clint here, after two movies of pretty beautiful buildup, after I felt like Avengers was the first action movie I'd ever seen where they wrote The Girl On The Team as finally the perfect balance of being a capable amazing human and ALSO a love interest where her sole plotline wasn't the love interest…. yeah, my heart was a tiny bit broken from a shipper perspective, too, and I keep feeling like I need to be defensive about that. Like every time I mention the fact that there were plenty of other things that HURT ME about this movie, people are still just going to distill my argument down to "oh, she's just an emotional girl who's upset because the people she WANTED to kiss didn't kiss."

It's still hard for me to talk about this movie with anything even close to rationality. I felt heartbroken when I walked out of that theater. And I felt like I was being STUPID for being so heartbroken. It was awful.

I decided I wanted to marry him years ago when I read this interview he gave about how he'd bought a house right above the Chateau Marmont, and how the valet system there reaaaaaally needed extra space for parking. So they asked him if he would be willing to let them sometimes use his driveway, and he thought it over and finally told them that he would in exchange for CM to deliver free round-the-clock room service directly to his house.

Directly to his house.

They agreed, and just reading that made me realize he was a man who could provide the really important things in life for me.

Noooo, oh man, what don't you like about her, can I write you a personal essay of 1000 words on Why Lyla Garrity Had An Amazingly Poignant And Even Relatable Journey or is that the internet version of knocking on your door and asking you to accept Jesus as your personal savior?

Tyra and Lyla would be an amazing pairing for this series.

Ugh, my pleasure. Especially because I LOVE romance! And weddings! And people being happy! I sit through a lot of shitty romantic comedies because I love the part at the end where people go rushing into each other's arms while a Coldplay song swells in the background!

THIS WAS THE OPPOSITE OF A COLDPLAY-SCORED MONTAGE.

(A-also I am not-so-secretly a huge Ted fan and think he is a really decent person and it broke my heart to think about him alone at his party, genuinely loving Robin and really wanting what is best for her more than he wants what is best for himself and knowing that she is ACCEPTING THIS SOCIOPATH'S PROPOSAL.)
