Ah, my mistake. I meant his first career start, but this is his second road series with the Yankees.

But Teixeira already said he's not waiving his trade clause to go to Miami. Honestly, he's not hurting the team, so I'd rather he just stay put for the last month and a half.

The Braves want McCann. Not Teixeira. And Teixeira's retiring so he won't be a free agent. He's not available to any team.

Teams aren't interested in Gardner because he's not aggressive anymore, which was who he was as a younger player. Since he's going to be 33 next week, he knows he's not exactly young and he's trying to preserve himself to last the whole year. It explains his drop off in stealing bases, but while he's not stealing bases, his speed has made a positive impact on games.

Gardner's lack of aggression isn't stopping him from putting up a decent season. He has a 2.4 WAR which is 29th among all OF, his OPS+ is 100, which above average and his .353 OBP is his best career-wise.

As for waivers, everyone is eventually going to clear them. Every team puts all their guys on and then when they clear, they're all free to be traded. The names that pop up are just guys that happened to have cleared waivers first, but it's more of a formality than anything.

I'm aware of that, but nowhere did I mention they were going to pay him for 700. 700 is a rare feat in itself and now he might end his career with 696.

A-Rod's starting tomorrow, even though Wright is out. That's not changing.

1) You're thinking about them as position players. As position players, A-Rod and Hicks have nothing in common. The point I'm making here is the Yankees claim they're all about winning, but they sit A-Rod down. Yet, they run Aaron Hicks out there when he has equally terrible numbers. It's like the Stephen Drew experiment all over again.

2) It has nothing to do with Rodriguez's performance. They want to get their money's worth by viewing him one last time.

3) He came up to bat tonight. Surprisingly it was a solid mix of cheers and boos. However, they got their money's worth because they got to see him.

Where did he specifically criticize Cashman and the Yankees? He in no way disrespected the Yankees based on his quotes. He has always been a polite guy and he meant no malice with his quotes but at the same time he is 100% correct. If anything, the Yankees might like Gardner even more because he's all about the team, A-Rod included.

And as for him being the one reason the team isn't playing well, he is not the problem. Try the middle of the order and the bullpen excluding Betances and currently Warren.

From my standpoint, Gardner said nothing wrong. It wasn't like he was bashing the Yankees, but he knows the team forced A-Rod to retire. He also wasn't being disrespectful and went on a rant that happened to make headlines the next day. He was asked a question and he spoke with honesty. These comments won't be the end of Gardner in New York because the Yankees knew they had a player who had a fiery personality, is extremely loyal and plays the game with passion. They respect him and value everything he does on and off the field. Gardner was just sticking up for his friend and teammate, which is exactly what you want from a player, regardless of who they are.
