Was that frost on the bus window pane in the first picture? Brrrr.... reminds me of my school days!

While I'm a relative latecomer to your blog, I was still touched by your story and check in to see how you are going and hope that things are going as well as they can. You seem to have a good support network and I'm glad that you are able to draw strength from it. :)

So true Gemma! More openness, empathy and acceptance will help all of us doing what really is a very challenging job. Your project is wonderful and I fully support it.

This is just like me! I try so hard to be zen about mess... but for some reason it gets to me. My 5yo is always asking me to "let" him clean so I've been teaching him... and he does a pretty good job! It's also good inspiration for me to find non-toxic cleaning solutions too. :)

Oh those dumplings look perfect for a winter evening! Today I'm thankful for the little afternoon tea ritual I have with my four kids, where they all share the most exciting part of their day. It's made all the more special now because my youngest started Kindy yesterday... so I was a bit teary but also very proud to hear about his first day without me.

I've never been to the Mount Oriel Homestead but it looks incredible. I love your array of images to remember your trip!

I love the little feet etched into the stone. So sweet! I've never been to Broken Hill. It looks interesting!

Lessons may come in painful packages but I think you are right in recognising the futility of thanking the bullies for it. Instead focus on the incredible friendship that you have made. In reading this post, it seems that's the best way any of us can move forward from such appalling treatment. And ps, the way you write is just so beautiful.

I can think of no better way to distract a child from the snotty nose blues than chocolate birthday cake! The smiles say it all. What a wonderful day for you all. x
