Max Blumenthal is a disgrace to journalism and a liar and toady who tried to pretend that the people of Venezuela aren't suffering from food shortages

last time I checked, the White Sox had a pretty crappy outfield. nobody at all in right, and a bloated and slow Melky in left.

their best outfielder is Eaton in center, and he's not a good defender.

they actually could use Gardner and having him would allow them to move Melky to right

while it may be a good idea to retain Chapman's services, that's not up to the Yankees. it's up to Chapman and he may be determined to become a free agent.

in any event, I would imagine that both Chapman and the Yankees will prefer to get deep into the season before considering anything long-term.

off-season is far from over...and the Yankees will continue to try to trade for the good, young left-handed starter that they need.

ideal target is the youngest of the White Sox's three lefties, Carlos Rodon.

not a good or well thought-out piece.

there's no significant risk to the team if Chapman is suspended. it's a long season with many innings....and any innings that Chapman misses at the start of the season can mean that he'll be available for more innings later.

if Chapman is suspended for an entire season, the Yankees will have him for the entire 2017 season....and break even.

if he's suspended for less than a season and more than 45 games...the Yankees will retain his services for 2017 and GAIN.

great thinking....you can always have too much pitching....

and, if you try really, really hard you can always look hard enough to find something unsavory in the mouth of any gift horse.

Betances is the one least likely to be traded.

only reason to trade Refsnyder before the season is if some other team really values him and is offering good young pitching in return.

otherwise, he can be sent to Triple A while the Yankees see how Castro and Headley play

lovely analysis, but the fundamental truth is that Warren was traded because the Yankees wanted Castro and Warren was the price.

Wilson was traded because the team decided to trade him and acquired whatever they could get in return.

they might well be interested in a package of Gardner and Nova.
