"whether China’s recent investment activities have had a positive impact on the selected East African countries is perhaps debatable. "

Not according to Oxford's Dambisa Moyo, whose book, "Dead Aid' raised Western hackles. Chinese engagement with Africa, she points out, has done more good in the past 10 years than all Western aid in the past 100.

We'd be better informed if, instead of giving your opinions, you published the Chinese prosecutor's complaint so we can get a better idea of what's going on. It's not long, and it won't take up too many pixels.

I live with a bunch of expat ex-military here in Thailand and we're all scratching our heads, asking the same questions: WTF?
Is the USA trying to alienate the entire planet? Meanwhile China is forging ahead, helping everyone, bombing no-one. Thai locals ask me what has happened to the USA. Their usual summary is "The US has blown it".

It's nice to hear about more "Americans Concerned for Middle East Peace". From what we've seen over the past 50 years it might be best if we Americans let the Middle Easterners worry about--and work out--the kind of peace (and political organizations) they want. While we seize every opportunity to shut up about the subject.

If they want a Caliphate, and vote for a Caliphate, then let them have a Caliphate. It could scarcely be any worse than the one imposed upon them by the Caliph of Washington.
