I'd recommend an anthology. Then you can get a taste of different poets without a huge commitment. And pace yourself. ONly a couple poems a day!

The appendices were DAUNTING to say the least. And the return to the Shire was sweet, but in my editorial view, kind of uneccessary. BUT, this book was written in a different time, so perhaps that's why. I often have to take that consideration when reading old classics in modern times.
