Life360 Now : Average Teen Reading Books at a 5th Grade Reading Level

As in Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire... when Twilight got popular there was a trend of die hard Anne Rice fans wearing team Lestat shirts versus team Jacob or Edward... :-)

You'll have to look at what the reading lists are in your district to know for sure. But that's kind of where it gets tricky is just because a child can read the book, doesn't mean they fully comprehend it either... though I would assume that by high school they should be able to comprehend all the above listed books.

That's kind of my thought too. The reading level is determined by the writing style, grammar, word usage, length of sentences and paragraphs, etc. But those things have nothing to do with the actual content of the book... so it's not really 100% accurate in that sense...

I have to say, aside from this incident here for the most part our league is wonderful. Kids and parents cheering for kids they know on the opposing team and parents and coaches from opposing teams sitting and laughing together. It's just a few apples that can ruin a game...

That's exactly what I keep seeing! Kids have to learn that sometimes you don't win. That's just the way it is, but they can't if every time they lose someone is shouting that its someone else's fault...

That's soooo great Wima! With technology today, Facebook, video games, DSi's, etc. I'm pleasantly surprised by how many kids I see reading books once they finally discover them. It's awesome.

Yea, I made the mistake of watching that one with my kids a few months ago, forgetting how dark it actually was! But at least that was fictional, so no real damage done.

I guess it truly depends on the child and family. I had friends growing up who's grandparents were in concentration camps. So I think when it's first hand family history it might be different as well...

The fresh air worked perfectly for us. And we lived in a fenced in yard off a dirt road at that time so those quiet private moments out in the yard were always very serene, don't get a lot of those when they get older! LOL

Life360 Now : Whooping Cough Vaccine Recommended for Adults

Miriama59, Since this is being considered an "epidemic" many school districts, health clinics, hospitals and yes, even local farmers markets (in my area anyway) are offering FREE shots. If your child is in school ask the office, otherwise simply call your nearest health clinic or hospital. You don't need insurance to get this shot, and in most places you should be able to get it free. :-)
