Hi!
Sure of course, why not. I’ve done 3 games on Vassal now, and it gets very easy to use very quickly. Two of the games were against people who have played tournaments, so it's been a great way to catch up a bit on the people who started earlier.

I hope to get to my 1st tournament next month, and ideally don't want to arrive in total noobmode :D

BTW I am thinking of organising a small Vassal Armada tournament, a few weeks long. The idea would be to both get more people to try armada on vassal and to cross pollinate ideas between meta-games.

(Fine, also to learn teh rulez real good too)

Watch this space.

All of it?
Leave some for the Eldar player, Cancon might be the only place in the world where lines like 'Hey baby, want to come up and see my nightspinner' actually work.

I'd probably have phrased it differently from AP, cleverhandle, but yes the ideal for most of the 3++ readers (and authors) is to play a decent, balanced and competitive game of 40K, whether it's at home, a pick-up game or a tournament match.

That might make many of us optimists under the current rule-set, but I hope not also 'fools' :)

I agree with enough of what you've posted about units to state the main exception: I think you're underestimating the impact of giving T5 to Wraiths.
They've gained immunity to double-out by anything except the absolute highest strength firepower, and they are significantly better against all torrent of fire up to S7.

They're not a game-breaker, but they are a real force to be reckoned with.

Mumakil are tremendously durable, with lots of wounds and thick skin, and can be upgraded further with Tough Hide. They are decent in a fight, but with a lot more strength than skill, and are a terrific archery platform.

Where they really come into their own though is in the movement phase, where they can trample enemies to death. One charge can easily go through a huge swathe of enemy models - I've seen one crush a dozen elves in a single move, before the elves got to use their fight skill or archery against the beast.

Actually getting those charges off in a field full of enemy heroes trying to heroically move first is probably the most important skill needed by the Mumak player.

My personal favourite is to ring it with cheap haradrim warriors on foot who don't leave enough space for an intercepting hero to reach and engage the beast, and then trample through some of my own men and on into the expensive enemies when it's the Mumak's turn to move.

Evil is as Evil Does :D

The Scenarios were 'Lords of Battle' and 'Domination' as per the sourcebooks/rulebooks, and 'To the Death' with the following tweaks that make it more competitive:

To The Death! – Scoring Rules

[] You score 3 Victory Points at the end of the game if the enemy force is reduced to 25% of its starting number of models, or below, and your own force is not.
[] If the enemy force is reduced to 25% of its own starting number and your force is unbroken, you instead score 5 Victory Points.
[] You score 1 Victory Point for causing one or more Wounds on the enemy leader (Wounds prevented in any way, including by a successful Fate roll, do not count). If you kill the enemy leader, you instead score 3 Victory Points or the amount of Wounds caused, whichever is higher.
[] You score 1 Victory Point if you have at least one banner remaining at the end of the game. If you have at least one banner remaining and your opponent has none remaining you instead score 2 Victory Points.

Death Ray: " I think it's a pretty uphill argument to say that it can get its shots 360 like the Heldrake, barring another FAQ entry."

'I feared a fear, and it came upon me.' Don't tempt GW :D

I would find it hard to disagree more with seeing Night Scythes' being dedicated transports as a disadvantage rather than an advantage.

Being required to take troops to unlock one of the best troop delivery systems in the entire game is a small price to pay. Being able to take 6 without squadronning, or take 2 rather than 1 when allying with Necrons, make including them easier.

You do not have to keep or even start the troops inside the Flyer. I see you called the cost of taking troops with the Flyers 'Crippling' but assuming you are playing a codex that requires you to take at least 2 troop units (Aka, any 40K codex) there isn't a downside, points tax or opportunity cost.

If you promise to get it all out of your system in one go, unload all that angst and frustration on Puppy, and come back a new man who has kicked the resin addiction, I reckon we could start a petition, pass the hat and make your dreams come true.
