Yrs. ago I read a book about jet war over Asia: The Migs could fly with a pilot and 2 on the ground, could land in a hay field, had bailing wire in the tool box, and a range of fuels. The US jets took a crew of 17 to fly, had to have a swept runway to launch and land, exact maintenance and fuel - the point was that the US could not fly fighters over Eurasia. Why that B-2, B-52 base in the Indian Ocean is "essential to America's security".
My favorite Rummy performance was the 5 story luxury bunkers in the Hindu Kush Mtns. of Afghanistan.
