Big Hollywood : Prince Says the Internet is Over; Music-Wise He's Not Completely Wrong

Format is really the issue here, not technology (although vinyl is making a comeback for album lovers). Music started as a "singles" medium until lps came around offering more space. Artists then began to formulate the concept of an "album." Even so, early records were often singles compilations and 45's were hugely popular for decades. That having been said, it was the record industry that stopped cultivating talent, instead focusing on disposable "flash in the pan" acts. They spent a decade releasing CDs made up of one single and filler. Then, over-the-air radio stations were bought up and homogenized (further pushing a limited amount of crap to an audience of shrinking tastes). Finally, they were resistant to online distribution and waited far beyond the point where consumers and technology had created a way to distribute the singles that they had been making available only in $18 packages. I don't mean to excuse piracy, but a huge chunk of blame goes to an industry that ignored technology for years so they could sell a product at a price point that developed due largely to the amount of grooves that could fit on a 12 inch vinyl disc. Now cheap recording, promotion and dissemination has rendered them largely obsolete.

Big Hollywood : Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert Challenges Americans to Do Jobs Illegals Won't

People like Colbert thrive on clueless audiences that like to pretend they're knowledgeable. That makes them dangerous. At least other clueless people don't care and don't vote.

Big Hollywood : DIXIE CHICK FLASHBACK: Why Does Sheryl Crow Insult Her Country Music Fans?

When was her last solo hit? 10 years ago? The only one she's had since then was her duet with Republican supporter, Kid Rock. I wonder what he'd say. The best thing that's happened in the last 10 years is the exposure of the entertainment industry. Stories like this aren't even news anymore.

Big Hollywood : Wonder Woman Reboot: Strident Feminism Is the Problem, Not the Costume

This is news? They do things like this periodically in the comics world to build hype around a big issue. There's nothing new here. Recent cases in point: The new "Azrael" modernized metal Batman costume. Lightening costume Superman Bearded hook-arm Aquaman Clone spiderman with hooded sweatshirt Superboy with leather jacket (later with t-shirt) Bluejeans WonderGirl Post Steve Rogers, gun-wielding, Captain America with revised costume Gray Hulk, Red Hulk etc, etc, etc.... Maybe we're reading a bit much into this?

Big Hollywood : According to His Own Rules, EW's Owen Gleiberman Might Be 'Racially Insensitive'

People who grew up in the 80's just don't like the fact that one of their favorite movies got co-opted by a celebrity trying to create a starring vehicle for his kid. Couple that with the fact that it's Kung Fu he's learning (not Karate) and it's a target rich environment for fanboys. Race has nothing to do with it.
