As Cary Grant says to Rosalind Russell in "His Girl Friday" from 1940, "Well who's going to read the second paragraph?" His point being that he wants the name of the newspaper in the first paragraph, but the same applies when a media outlet has an agenda they want to push - Front-load your angle and bury anything that might play against it. It's a practice that's been going-on for decades, if not centuries. Heck, there were probably cavemen who came back from the hunt bragging about how well they fought their prey before they mumbled under their breath that it got away. Readers of any news article should always keep this in mind, and we should thank outlets like BigJournalism for calling the media out publicly when they do see this happening.

Didn't all that raw goat milk result in 78 people becoming ill and 1 death (in Sacramento, California)? Oh, wait, that was 36 million pounds salmonella-tainted turkey that Cargill produced for more than 5 months and sold in at least 26 states. - http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-08-04/cargill-... At least the turkey was FINALLY recalled after an "internal" & "painstaking" investigation. And at least Cargill has all the proper paperwork so that “[o]nce [the tainted meat is] removed and the shelves are restocked, most people will go back to buying it”. Thank goodness that undocumented raw goat milk won't be in the fridges of a handful of people around Venice, CA, when they stock their fridges with ground turkey again. Someone might get sick.

Regretfully, I have to call John Nolte out on this one. The opening sentence, "With the roaring success 'The Undefeated' has already had at changing the conversation about Sarah Palin ...," gives the impression that "The Undefeated" is a success at the box office, since that is what the articles cited are talking about. Is it? I honestly don't know, and I don't know the websites that have accurate box office data. I think that statement needs to be backed-up better in it's implication of box office success. Also, the term "roaring success" regarding the movie's actual effect on changing the conversation about Mrs. Palin is not really backed-up by the hyperlinked article. The article just makes the case that the movie itself clarifies Mrs. Palin's background in a positive way and that it takes the conversation in a different direction. But is that a "roaring success" at changing the national conversation about Mrs. Palin? The movie may be a success as a positive "changed conversation" about Mrs. Palin. I haven't seen it, but she seems to like it. But has the movie been successful at "changing the conversation" about Mrs. Palin? I think only time will tell. Afterall, it's only been on 10 screens for less than a weekend at the time of this publication. If the tone of The Atlantic's article cited here is any indication, it certainly hasn't changed the conversation so far. Of course, I wouldn't expect a changed conversation about Sarah Palin from The Atlantic unless the writer was going over a roaring waterfall and he had to raise his voice to get her to throw him a rope. And I would expect Sarah Palin to throw him that rope, but I wouldn't expect the same if the situation was reversed.

Jackson Lee(D) is a nut and as a Native Texan I'm embarrassed that the city of my birth has inflicted her on the nation. Living just outside the district of Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson(D) now (Pete Sessions(R) is my Rep.), I don't recall hearing the kind of idiocy in the news coming from her that I always seem to hear from a distance from Jackson Lee (other than a scholarship scandal involving EBJ not all that long ago, but that's a different thing altogether.)

I notice that in the quote from Time Magazine's official blog post that it says, "To learn what the Constitution says about th[e controversial] issues, you can find an annotated Constitution by clicking [ http://ratify.constitutioncenter.org/constitution... ]," and the link goes to a webpage with an interactive Constitution that has been "annotated" by the National Constitution Center, where Mr. Stengel was formerly the President & C.E.O. Isn't that a little like saying, "To find out what the Constitution says about the controversial issues in Mr. Stengel's article, go to this other page about the Constitution that Mr. Stengel (probably) helped write"? Seems like "circular-sourcing" to me, to (possibly) coin a term.
