I never said Prescott Bush knew nothing of the link between Union Banking, Bank voor Handel en Scheepvaardt N.V., and its relationship with Fritz Thyssen. I merely said there was NO evidence to suggest he did. And even if he did, doing business with Nazi Germany prior to onset of hositilties was not against the law. Large corporations such as GM, Ford, IBM, and Standard Oil had invested millions of dollars in Germany in the years leading up to the outbreak of war. I am still waiting for your correction regarding the seizure of the Bush family fortune, a point you clearly were intending to make in an earlier post.

It was your initial contention that the family assets were seized......they were not. The assets seized were those of the bank he was one of seven board of directors. That was the extent of any involvement he had with Germany during this period. Incidentally, the largetst shareholder of Bank voor Handel who was on the board of directors of Union Banking was W. Averell Harriman who just so happened to be a democrat and the future husband of Pamela Harriman, a denizen of democrat political circles and Clinton's French Ambassador appointee. Oh, and one more little factual nugget who may have chosen to ignore - Fritz Thyssen was imprisoned by the Nazi's in 1941 till war's end because of his dissent from Nazi brutalities. My Commanders in Chief included Carter, Reagan, Bush I, and Clinton. While I respected Carter's years of military service, there were only two who a truly honored as my Commander in Chief. Shouldn't take much of a genius to figure out who they were. I feel real, real sorry to my brothers and sisters in uniform today who have to take orders from this man.
