Paul, the event is taking place at Animal Place - if you click on the Buy Tickets link, you will see the address and location.

Carmen is a Barbados sheep. The ancestors of domestic sheep had hair and a fine undercoat of wool. Barbados look similar to wild sheep in that they have hair instead of wool. This sheds during the spring, unlike wool, which has to be sheared (or the sheep will eventually die from overgrown wool or heat stroke).

She is commonly confused for a goat. :)

I have been duly impressed with her graceful aging.

Senior pets at shelters break my heart into a bazillion pieces.

I am going to look into that. I don't know if she is in constant pain, but she is also very stoic so it is hard to read pain thresholds with her.

Thanks so much, Leah.

No diagnosis - she's been radiographed and ultrasounded for the leg, but they cannot figure it out. I think she's just getting old. I'm glad to be with her for this process.

It may not prevent all dog bites (obviously there is a reason one might bring a dog to an aggression clinic), but it would a) alleviate suffering by treating pain and b) allow the dog to go back to exhibiting normal warning signals.

Plus, the dog isn't outright killed, which is a good thing in my book.

I'm having difficulties with some comments not showing up. This is from Pooches for Peace:

It's neat to be able to look at one so close up in a pic so as to not have to worry about being stung. Thanks for posting! "

Thanks!

I'd probably be pretty hysterical too. Swarming bees = death. That's just a fact.
You do not mess with a swarm. Nor do you hold the box of swarming bees. That is just asking to get killed.
