Last day at work, last day at work, yipee!!

My student employees have been so nice about me leaving. One bought me a candle, another brought a card, and one (who isn't even working here over the summer!) brought me brownies. They have consistently been the bright spots in working here, and I am really sad to leave them. I'm in a pretty toxic work environment, and they were my only work friends and the people who spoke to me on a daily basis. Luckily, I'm staying on campus, so I won't be too far away, but I know things will be different not seeing them every day. I hope that I've been a good friend and semi-mentor for them.

I can't wait to leave this office though. Good things are on the horizon.

Manka! I am so happy you are providing an Open Thread for us. I love Toastie Slack, but it is so overwhelming (and v. distracting throughout the workday). I'm glad we have a more moderately paced community here :)

I'm finishing up my penultimate week at my current job. I'm transferring with my department, and my current manager is not handling things well. He is un-inviting me to meetings left and right, canceling our set check-ins, and is currently a half hour late to a meeting he made me schedule so I could train him on a computer program. I originally felt all sorts of guilty about leaving this job, especially as I've only been here for 8 months, but his behavior is just assuring me that I made the right decision. Yay?

I'm looking forward to a nice weekend! Tonight the man and I are going out to a fancy ramen place we've been drooling over for months. Tomorrow, Nelly (the rapper!) is playing an outdoor concert with the symphony orchestra. We are taking a picnic. I think it is going to be goofy and delightful.
