The BJP not only needs to project itself as different from the Congress but it needs to actually BE different from the Congress. I think currently it is not. It is- as you have pointed out- 'just a poor B-team of the Congress'. It is a pity that the BJP has failed to bring forward any other leader- other than Narendra Modi-whose goal is to make India a developed and strong nation. The BJP should have ideally had several such national level leaders by now. But in the present situation- I agree, Narendra Modi for PM is the big idea which is likely to succeed.

Very logically analysed. I agree that the Pak military and perhaps govt. too was protecting Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad. But what an extraordinary co-incidence it would be if the US discovered his hiding place and killed him just days after Obama declared he would contest presidential elections in 2012. It may be naive of me but I cannot believe this. Agree totally with the last para of this post.....

Some among us do indeed need to rise to meet this threat. But it is so extremely difficult for anyone to do so. In the aftermath of the CWGs we see that the politicians are getting off free- pehaps even Kalmadi will be spared. The contractors, however, who really had no hope of getting these contracts without greasing palms, will be caught and punished. Where ordinary traders, professionals and businessmen cannot even make a decent living without falling prey to corruption, who can stay 'clean' enough to expose the crooks? As for Dynasties- seems they are here to stay, and getting stronger and more influential....

Nice to read this analysis which is such a contrast to the shrill rhetoric we have been hearing on the news channels from the moment the HC gave its judgement. As you have mentioned, thousand of mandirs were destroyed by the invaders and mosques built in their place. Actually Hindus do have the moral right to demand that all these mosques be razed to the ground. But, as you have said- Hindus have moved on- though it suits the pseudo-secularists to pretend that they have not- and no one is making such a demand. Why anyone should object to a temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi site- when it is clear that no further demand will be made by Hindus- is beyond my understanding. The past two days have clearly shown that the villian in this story is the media. Far from being the mirror of society, the media in India has tried its best to ensure that the opposite takes place. It is trying hard to change society into a mirror image of itself. I hope it does not succeed!

It is a mystery how a Ram Mandir is considered comparable to a mosque. To rebuild the Babri mosque or to build another in its place, would be to build a reminder of the way that innumerable Hindus were tortured in order to compel them to convert. Why should any Hindu want to do that? And if any Muslims want to do so- it would be well to ask why.

Very logical analysis- but it is futile to wish that either the govt. or the media understand logic. Matters of faith certainly should be outside the purview of the courts. And it seems that our govt. does realize this, even if it will not admit it. If I remember correctly, in 1992, the Allahabad HC was to have declared its judgement on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue on the 5th of Dec.- it deferred it and declared it a few days later. By then the Babri was demolished. Once again the HC has deferred judgement. It is obvious the HC (and by extension, the govt.) does not have the guts to deliver a judgement and are hoping that the problem will somehow just go away.

Wonderful analysis of the current situation in the Congress- and by extension, in the country as a whole. Again, very depressing though... Almost all Indians are gripped by such Myopia that they can see only the immediate gains of supporting the Dynasty. Who cares about what will happen to the country tomorrow? Great analysis of the situation. I agree completely with what you have written. In Abhishek's comment, he has suggested that a person with a particular religion likes to live in the place where they have majority. I have seen that this is not always true. A Muslim friend of mine told me that as long as she and her family stayed with their extended family, in a Muslim dominated area, they had to follow their traditional ways. It was also difficult for them to connect with people of other religions. She much preferred to stay in a more 'cosmopolitan' area.

Yes, this is the crux of the matter. Hindus- particularly well-educated ones- are easily brain-washed in this manner. I cannot believe that all of them actively desire the downfall of our country. But it appears that by voting for the Congress, they feel that somehow they have done their patriotic duty and are free to go back to their secure cocoons, far away from the reality of our Indian society. I am truly puzzled why the media acts as it does though. Can a couple of Padma Bhushans compensate for betraying India?
