As a newly pregnant yogini, I have to chime in and say I LOVE this series, too! It's an invaluable comfort to share with other pregnant yogis, in person and online. Thank you!

Have no fear Tara, those are feelings that we all experience during and after teacher training (I promise). It's not only part of the transformation but is also part of the "role" of a yoga teacher. Check out my reflection on my first week of teaching: http://vogueyogini.com/2011/04/26/plight-of-the-r.... It might make you feel better... And just keep going - keep practicing and keep teaching your yoga with your voice. You can't lose!

Ed, kudos to you for keeping up the practice - with both writing and yoga. For some reason practice can be painful but it sure does pay off. Thanks for recognizing that and thanks for reading. :)

I promise you, Redge, yoga and writing are very similar - as are yoga and other art forms. That is, equally as fulfilling and frustrating! And that is why we practice. :) Thanks for reading.

The New Healthy : Reflecting on the Vegan Challenge

Yay! Congrats. It was neat to follow your eats for the week - especially the pizza, yum! I'd like to try it for 3 months - I'm "borderline" vegan right now (vegetarian with no cow's milk or eggs - just cheeeeeeese!) and feel pretty amazing but would love to see how a vegan diet would change things over some time. That said, a week can be pretty powerful, too, especially depending on one's beginning diet - like most of the folks who probably took Oprah's challenge...congrats again :)

Definitely agreed re: Dove (definitely). Of course, their practices are deplorable. Despite horrific "business" practices (and there are so many cos. out there doing the same things), I appreciate any marketing endeavor to include "normal" (ha-ha) women in their advertising. Fueled by profit margins or not, it's at the least nice to see promos with "healthful"-appearing bodies [All quotations emphasized!] :) That said, I'm not a supporter of Dove. Go Pangea!

The New Healthy : Vegan for a Week Challenge

Rock on! Ironically, I discovered Skinny Bitch long before I even considered vegetarianism, never mind veganism. It's a great read and offers really practical recipes, etc. (aside from providing tons of valuable detailed info). Being a glutton for convenience at times, I love it for the convenience reason alone! Looking forward to reading about your experience this week. And ditto on the coconut milk creamer - french vanilla is the best! If you have access to the So Delicious brand, you can even get a coupon here: http://www.purelydecadent.com/products/coupon.htm... Vegan and discounted? Who could refuse?!

elephant journal: Yoga, Sustainability, Politics, Spirituality. : Quotable Insights: Perfectly Imperfect

Great quote and surely insightful! I love any reminder that being happy is just that - BEING happy. Just do it! Sometimes we (and by "we" I definitely mean "me"!) get so caught up in fulfilling self-imposed roles, reaching goals, and "doing it all" that attaining some definition of perfection is not only futile but also silly since it does not equal happy. Strive for perfection but be willing to accept good enough in the face of doing your best. And, enjoy the moment. That's it, right? Thanks for this, Victoria - always enjoy your contributions.
