To Kill A Mockingbird is one of those books I'm busting to read.
You know, I went to hear Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple speak at the Sydney Writers Festival last year and she wasn't happy at all about Obama being president. Her reasons were more anti-politics saying that having a black president didn't necessarily mean things significant changes were going to happen for African Americans. Cynical point of view, I thought but she's not all wrong either.

We had a mutt who lived for almost 15 years! I mean, seriously. He was pretty low-maintenance but gee, he didn't end up being the cheap pet we thought he'd be. RIP Samson
