I'm really enjoying following your invisalign progress. I had invisalign myself several years ago but my story was far from positive. I had many 'buttons' on my front teeth - you don't know until you're into the process where and how many of these 'buttons' you'll need - and this made my invisalign very obvious to everyone rather than invisible. The trays cut my mouth terribly, I too researched how to overcome this and discovered filing with an emery board can and does improve things greatly. I spent quite some time filing the edges of each new tray before wearing it. I suffered hugely from saliva pooling in my mouth and filling the trays and I had difficulty talking normally. I worked retail at the time and it was embarrassing speaking with customers. I also suffered dry mouth (ironic given the amount of saliva I was producing) and this, in turn causes bad breath so I even tried sucking the lozenges for dry mouth but this didn't work well. If you're not in a job where you have to talk to customers this might not be an issue for you. I developed sores on my lips, around my mouth and nose and inside my nose. Six weeks into treatment I was diagnosed as allergic to the plastic trays and had to stop. This is rare, but not unknown, and once I stopped invisalign treament my face recovered. I'd received a discount for paying for all the treatment upfront and I got some of this back but not all of it - something to look into when you sign up for invisalign and you also need to consider whether there's a chance you'll change your dental insurance during your treatment time as a new dental insurance may not be willing to take over a percentage of the cost of your treatment. When treatment stopped the 'buttons' were removed from my teeth. They did not remove totally immediately and changed the colour and surface of my teeth where they'd been attached, it took a while for these changes to disappear but two and a half years on things are back to normal. I hope you don't mind me sharing the other side of invisalign treatment with you, I'm still all for invisalign and just sorry it didn't work for me. I love what you're doing and that you're sharing your story and your teeth are already looking so much better. Did you dentist let you have a copy of the before/during/after video that invisalign provide him with? Mine did - well he ran it on his computer and I filmed it using my phone - and I loved showing it to everyone! - Chris :D
