A Touch of Book Madness : 5 Must Haves for Winter Survival

Oooooh a slanket! How this wonderful thing could exist without me knowing it? I want one for X-mas! Ok, I'm afraid I'm a bit late on that one but I've just fallen deeply in love with your photo ;) I'm going to see where I can have one and wait for the sales. It's something for me. And I love the hat on your presentation: is it one you own or just an example? It would be perfect on me and you can't have too many hats (even Summer ones). Gloves AND mittens ! I've got black gloves and grey mittens and they match with all my clothes. I've never been a chocolate drinker (except when I was a child of course) but any hot drink is welcome when it's cold. I'm unable to purchase warm boots; I don't like them. They are practical I suppose but I can't give up simple and nice boots. I've lived during years in a cold city where there was snow several times in a single Winter (something I hadn't experimented before living there) and I've managed to keep my classic boots w/o slipping or falling. It must be odd for you to speak of Winter at this time of the year. I should divide my year between the two hemispheres so as to always live in Summer ;) My recent post A Month of Favorites: 5 Must Haves for Winter Survival

http://greenmushroom1up.blogspot.ca/ : A Month of Faves: Top 10 (or so) Favorite books of 2014

I'm going to thank you because I haven't add a book ;) Station Eleven is already on my wishlist (and you've done your part on that one!). I've already loved the novel of Juan Gabriel Vasquez (BTW, I've been disappointed by the one I've read recently). I've checked your review of What We See... But the only view at Emma Bovary has given me chills of horror :D (I've been traumatized by this book in high school - I'm not a big fan of French classics but this one is one of my worst memories). So it seems I'm safe ;) And I'm glad you had a good reading year. Mine is good but not as much as others have been.

I've preferred this one to Death with Interruptions ;) Saramago has been perfect until the end! But you should read The Gospel according to Jesus Christ, in whatever language you want :) It's my favorite Saramago, a masterpiece, a delightful read!

http://greenmushroom1up.blogspot.ca/ : El ruido de las cosas al caer (The sound of things falling) by Juan Gabriel Vásquez

So you know Juan Gabriel Vasquez which I was naming in your Timeline post ;) I had loved this novel so much! It's been one of my favorite books from these last years. And now I'm reading his last one (in Spanish the title is: Las Reputaciones) released in France a few months ago. I've read very little (I intend to dedicate my reading time this weekend to it) but the tone seems pretty much the same as in El ruido etc. I had also read a previous one (Les dénonciateurs in French) with less enthusiasm but this writer has a voice and I can only understand that you feel all the more concerned by such stories.

I'm having a tour in your reviews (I was searching for Saramago ;) and I'm happy to find Paul! I love this series and Rabagliati never writes enough quickly for me (I've read them all!). Paul à Québec has made me cry: it was awful :S But Rabagliati is good to mix joys and griefs of the life. I hope you will and could read the other books of the series.

I've wanted to comment your post since two days! You deserve a medal (or two) for having read these romances : even on a dare, I couldn't. I'm dying to know your favorite fiction of the year and I hope it's translated into French or English (I don't know a word in Spanish. Books originally written in Spanish are well-represented in France in general. I'm reading one of them now, by Juan Gabriel Vasquez).

I love your post! I already know Picmonkey (since not a long time though) and I've created the banner of my blog in French thanks to it (very simple but the craziest thing I've been able to do since I have a blog, that is 2005). A book blogger has introduced me to MailChimp recently because I wanted to create a newsletter (she's said it was intuitive and I've spent a whole weekend on it... It gives you an idea of my dumbness in this matter :D) I'm going to try Piktochart and IMap. Something tells me I'm not going to read much this month... Thanks a lot for this post. Maybe there's hope for people like me ;) My recent post A Month of Favorites: A Year in Books Timeline

Caro, please, be a good person: don't play with my feelings or I'm going to have problems with my bank ;p I've searched who was her French publisher and I'm desperate; this publisher tends to ruin books by awful translations so, if I want to read the Mandel's, I will be obliged to buy it (I doubt that the English books section of my library will purchase it).

A Touch of Book Madness : A Month of Bookish Faves Introduction

I live in France and books in English are very expensive too (and I'm broke). I order them at The Book Depository: of course I can't purchase all what I'd like to read but it's a way to get them at a correct price. I can also have some books at the Library but, here too, they are not enough and the books I want and the books available are barely the same ones. It's the reason why I do not read in English as much as I'd like to. For the classics, I download the free ones on my laptop thanks to Feedbooks but, like I said, I'm not a big fan of reading on a screen. My recent post A Month of Favorites: Fave New-to-Me Author Discoveries

If only I had the wisdom to read my own books instead of library books I wouldn't have a terrifying TBR pile! I do not calculate statistics for this point but I do not need to... Reading your stats I'm ashamed (and I know I won't change anyway :D) Like you, if I've read some authors several times this year, that doesn't mean they are my favorites. Sometimes, it's just accidental.
