I wonder do people still begin blogging just for the love of writing, or for the need to express their feelings? I don't see it: everyone seems to want freebies, or a huge audience for their posts. I do still watch my (falling) tots scores, but apart from that I just write when and what I want. My most popular posts are often those I wrote in ten minutes or so when something made me feel I just had to.If I force the writing it doesn't have the same impact.

I didn't watch the details either. I actually think that these big events are allowed to take over the TV channels, which feed the publicity machines of the terrorists, when there are so many other stories that desperately need to be told. It's a lose lose right now.

I hope you're not too worried about the kids xx

So far, so good and long may it continue - I now think that a good school that understands autism and provides the accommodations that a child needs, really can be life changing. Hopefully the next school will be as good x

I did find quite a lot of cultural differences when I moved here, but probably less than if I was from further afield, you're right about that! I always felt at home in Ireland, maybe even more than I ever did in the UK and I can't imagine living anywhere else now :-)

I had to leave a lot of expat forums because they seemed to do nothing but moan about Ireland and the Irish! It did take me about a year to begin making real friends, but many of them are still good friends 26 years on. Many are Irish, some are not, I don't really notice the difference any more. I do agree about the difficulty of breaking into existing circles of friends, but I think that can apply to many other countries too, especially outside of big cities.

Actually there were blogs of a sort in 2002, apparently but I would've liked them back in 1990 when I first moved to Ireland, it would have been such a rollercoaster of a story to record - but then I guess we all have a story to tell. Perhaps you should write a book?

I agree with Nanazolie - The UK has moved on without me and Ireland is my home now: after 26 years here, I seem Irish to overseas friends and I'd say my accent is the main thing that gives me away now. I also agree that if I really wanted to go back, I would find a way, but except when my parents were ill, I never considered it,
