Our community needs more straight allies like to come forward in full support. We need them involved in every aspect of the LGBT equality movement. I cannot even begin to describe the number of times I’ve heard my straight friends announce vocally that they support what I do and what I stand for as an LGBT activist. I politely thank them of course but then I go on to say that I need more than their vocal support. I need them to get involved in policy changing activities that promote equality, I need them to lobby governmental officials with me, to march with me, and to share their views of acceptance with their peers. One by one, we can and we will make a difference.
