This was really interesting to read for me. I don't have body image issues, but I have issues with my face, and I definitely find they're a lot harder to ignore when I'm sad/anxious about something else. I find myself being driven to distraction by self-consciousness over my acne or my eyebrows when I'm behind on work, and some days I'll be watching TV and feel happy and look in the mirror and feel super cute - even though all the things that were making me feel so crappy earlier are still present.

It really is a battle and even if it doesn't always help, I think it's good to know where it's coming from.

I've also been finding the 'So what?' technique useful re: my backlog. I've been struggling with a weird block (not creative, just can't seem to get down to things) the past couple of weeks, probably reeling from the holidays, and the only reason I haven't had a breakdown is I keep reminding myself that if I don't get to something on that very day, the consequences are not that dire. I'll get to it.

This is fantastic. Thank you for sharing! My experience with antidepressants was also positive but very different from this. I've been thinking about going back on them, on something different this time. My GP prescribed me mirtazapine when I was thinking about switching this summer, but then I just weaned myself off medication instead. I'm still taking lorazepam really often though.

I'm sorry about this comment, but -

I don't have a furry friend!!!!! I miss my furry friend. Petting him was on my goal list as well, and I feel like I'd have an easier time of unplugging and journaling and other such good self-care habits if I still had him around to pet. Alas.

I really like the monthly review idea. I like the questions there. May take that up, thanks for sharing!

I love her and I haven't even met her. (And never will because I have no intention of going back to GOT or reading the books, lol.)

You've got some seriously awesome sponsors. I'll be checking them out!

As for superpower, I don't know, I think I'd do best if I could have the typical non-superpowered hero superpower: loads and loads of money. Failing that, I've always been pretty into invisibility. I'm nosy and I may or may not think a lot about committing crimes to help my financial situation, so... Yup.

I don't know what it is about the first pic but you remind me a lot of Ann Perkins in it.

Wow, what do you mean I'm going to have to join a G+ community? This is NEW and SCARY. *joins anyway*

PS I've been kicking around a post like the first one you wrote for the Superheroesque site for MONTHS. Not about geekiness, but about the whole 'real' adjective that people throw around when what they really mean is "you don't fit my standards for [noun] and that's scary and shakes my worldview and possibly means I'm not a special snowflake myself so you are not [noun]!" Sigh.

Comments are fantastic and SO important. We (at least I) put our content out there because we want to SHARE it with people. Engaging is the best part of blogging for me. So I comment a lot and I reply to all my comments (when I get them - I had some from you under spam and only just found out yesterday! You leave awesome comments, by the way) and I tweet people and generally encourage interaction as well as I can. Because that's what I want to get out of it.

Also, Disqus is awesome because you get notifs of replies right in your widget, no need for email notifs! I love that.
