Christian Web Trends Blog by OurChurch.Com : > @StickyJesus Wrap-Up: 3 Takeaways & 3 Questions

Hi Paul, I maintain that this entire experience has blessed me; the book, your leadership, the bloggers- all God's doing- I am grateful. 1).The most significant message I took away from @sticky Jesus book is, I can know Christ and make him known in the online world; I am not alone in my pursuit; there are believers who have also answered the call to be light online.(Hey, Light Online would make a good title for something, hmm) To your point, I think ppl are not living their faith out online b/c, yes, their are technical hurdles, but also, ppl are being rejected and feeling isolated in their online circles. A FB friend recently posted that friends have dropped off from his list b/c he speaks of the goodness of Jesus. So, I know the your suggestions, A-D, will be most helpful. 2) &3.) My next step is to bring my local church into the digital world to share the sticky message. I need help with what that should look like. Is it a website? a blog? streaming bible study? or worship service? If so, what will take to set it up and to maintain it- technically? financially?

Hi Paul, I like that ---> "Digital Great Commission." Let's go and make disciples online! That is what it's all about. The balance between humility and Godly confidence is so key online and offline; I couldn't agree with you more! Thank you for your leadership Paul! I really enjoyed this experience! :-)

Oh Toni! I am so rookie lol, but I receive your encouragement. Just remind me to tell you the full story when we get together F2F ;-) I appreciate you talking about the those "subtle things". It is the subtle things, if go unchecked, grow into noisy, hard to miss things. And who else can "deal" with us so perfectly but the Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus for sending the Comforter. I thank God for you! Thank you for submitting to God and putting your hand to writing @sticky Jesus. I say with confidence that He has indeed accomplished a wonderful work through you, because this work, has blessed- my-soul! :-) Great is the our God and greatly to be praised!

Hi Wanda, My feet broke out in to a dance when I read that you shared before the assembly of saints that God laid on your heart to carry His word as a digital scribe! Isn't your heart ablaze for Him?! I hear ya about Facebook too; but thanks be to God that He is raising you up for such a time as this. I will look for you fellow trailblazer as we walk in our calling to be God's digital scribes! Uh oh! There go my feet again- just dancing :-)

Christian Web Trends Blog by OurChurch.Com : > @StickyJesus 14) demystifying: content gathering

I see the RSS feed icon online everywhere, but it was like Greek to me- I was clueless. I appreciate the breakdown that File 14 provides of the RSS feed, and I plan to try it. As for content, since I began this blog project, I have a new found joy for reading -period. Now when I read, or my approach to reading is, I want to fill up, so when I'm called to pour out-online and offline- I am ready. Just this week, I began taking inventory of all the wonderful books(content) I have that were collecting dust, or serving as a coaster for my glass of lemonade! :-). Last night, I dusted off a book called "More Jesus, Less Religion"; the title alone would make for an interesting blog discussion. Christie, I,too, am learning about blogging and I plan to take the leap and commit to it - let's encourage each other :-). Great post :-)

Hi Rob, I love how you end your post with: The Twittersphere is a remarkable place filled with remarkable people. It is a land full of opportunities to connect, to communicate and to care about others. It is up to us to be willing to enter into this land and take advantage of these God given opportunities. Your statement rings so true for me: God, through Twitter, has afforded me to the opportunity to connect, communicate and care for remarkable people- His beloved creation. I am so grateful! When I first started using Twitter, my purpose was to stalk celebrities- just being real. There were a couple of ppl who found me "interesting" I don't know why? perhaps my profile pic looked pleasant, b/c I certainly wasn't shining for Jesus. On Twitter, I hid my light b/c a). I was afraid of being rejected ( from ppl I didn't know -go figure! and b). I didn't know how to let my light shine. I could feel myself being sifted, so, I closed my account. About 6 months later, I opened a new Twitter account. I had a new perspective and was careful about who I followed. I believe God saw my heart and that I wanted to and was ready to freely express who He is to me online. He knew I needed to be taught and surrounded by folks who were doing it and living it. That is why I will forever, forever, forever, be grateful to God for the sticky Jesus grp blog project (God bless you Paul, Tami Toni- I so mean it with all my heart). As a result of the group blog project, this is what I know for sure: God knows what we need and who we need; and His delivery is always on time! Bless you Rob, my brother in Christ :-)

Thanks for the post Brandon; you make great points with the 3 C's! :-) I felt a lil pinch as I was reading too, lol! The pinch was a reminder to not only be a reader of blogs, but to get moving. The third C, "Coordinate" really speak to me. I love how you were able to use FB to galvanize support for Joplin. As I type this, I'm thinking about in 2 weeks my church will host psalmist Alvin Slaughter in a free concert; we certainly have not used the full potential of FB to spread this news. "Perhaps, though, we aren’t using Facebook to its full potential for maximum Kingdom impact." <-- I know I have work to do! Thanks for the stirring- Bless you Brandon!

Lisa, just like File 10, your great post gets right to the heart of the matter for me. Jesus, either I'm in all the way, or I'm not -- be it online or offline. Offline, I was pretty sure I was all the way in for Jesus. It was online that I struggled to let my light shine. When I first started connecting w/ friends from yesteryear online, boy oh boy! I had something to prove, and it wasn't always the hope of Christ. Thank God for deliverance! "'To fulfill our calling as Jesus followers and God glorifiers online or anywhere we must be willing to sacrifice…" That sacrifice for me at times has come at the risk of looking or sounding foolish, too zealous; I've been mocked, even excluded. It can get really uncomfortable. However, I can't say t enough, that I am grateful to God for connecting me with folks who are not ashamed of the Gospel and who are determined to live their faith out online- what a treasure! Thanks again Lisa- Blessings!

Toni, Your joy infused boldness continues to encourage and inspire me- keep bringing it sis :-) Oh, and uh, let's think about those "missed" corporate promotions for a sec. What if you were selected for those promotions, and what if those promotions turned you into some big corporate honchess who didn't have time for anything else? like the message of sticky Jesus? oh, the thought! Thank you for being steadfast in the faith. For surely, what we do for Him will last. XXOO

Christian Web Trends Blog by OurChurch.Com : > @StickyJesus 9) Quiet: The Humility Zone

Abmer, your transparency in this post is both courageous and infectious. Thank you for going there :-) I did a good amount of grunting and weeping in this chapter. This chapter made me examine my motives- online and offline. I am well acquainted with the "haunting needs-to succeed, to be accepted, to be loved and to know that I matter." The drive to be successful was a seed planted when I was a teenager. I was 13 yrs. old attending Newark public schools when I was selected to receive a 4 yr. scholarship to a private boarding school. I loved the praise, the prestige, and the and the idea of being " the one who beat the odds." The rush of being known and feeling important was addictive. From that point on, I set out to do things that would draw that attention, and praise. Throughout high school, college, and even during the early years of my professional career, I had an insatiable appetite for the type of success that I thought would draw attention. I was never satisfied. I was always looking for the next project, promotion, or purchase that would say, "see me" or "look what I'm doing!" It was a yoke that was designed to literally take-me-out! I am so thankful that God's love- which has the power to meet our every need-rescued me. And it still rescues me :-). I've learned to embrace the Holy Spirit's correction in the area of pride; it doesn't feel good, but I know it's so necessary. Before this book, I was certainly buying into the "streaming me" culture! Especially with Facebook. I thought Facebook was designed to be all about me; my accomplishments, the best photos I could post of me, etc. And Twitter? oh please! we don't want to go there. I thank God for raising a standard. This blog project, which was an answer to prayer, has exposed me to an entire community who are living their faith out online and actively engaged in spreading the good news- who knew? I've been blessed beyond measure!

Christian Web Trends Blog by OurChurch.Com : > @stickyJesus 7) Christ followers: the game changers

Dan, thank you for sharing a real experience that demonstrates the very real reach we have with today's technology. "On this trip the supporters back home didn’t have to wait for us to return to hear the stories. And they didn’t have to pray blindly mere general blessings for the team. They were able to interact with the events as they unfolded, and were able to pray specific for things that started to unfold right before their eyes!" This is a powerful testimony and it further confirms for me why I must get my home church connected! I, too, thought the "how to be a game changer" list was good. "Don't get overwhelmed 'doing'. Pray. Then trust God to do the heavy lifting." When I read this point, I instantly felt lighter :-) Lastly as I read the comments about the mission trips and about you being in a remote village in Haiti, I thought about the prayer in File 07 where it says, "As your holy eyes scan the fields, let them land on me. Find me worthy to carry Your message and Your promise to Your beloved creation." What an awesome God we serve! It is truly a privilege to carry His Gospel- to be His voice, His hands, His feet. Blessing Dan! :-)
