This sounds so intriguing! Would you be willing to blurb your review over at Bookstore Bookblogger connection? I'd love to help others find out more info about SOME QUIET PLACE. http://bookstorebloggerconxn.com/about/

I have a total weakness for time travel/alt history/changing history stories, so even if this one wasn't awesome, it still sounds like it would be a ton of fun to read. great review!

oh, these zombie books look like a ton of fun! I've been wanting to read Zombies vs Unicorns since it first showed up, come on, how could you not want to read something with that title? and I've been enjoying The Walking Dead TV show, so i aughta read the graphic novels it's based on, right? also, spoilers for seasons I haven't seen yet!

I'm just now getting to everyone's posts, sorry I'm so late to the party!

I'm so happy you decided to give Foundation another try. With all the time jumps in the first few chapters, it's easy to feel a little off kilter.

I too can completely see science being "rebranded" as religious magic to get more people comfortable using it. Your comment about the ancient Egyptians is fascinating, because it really did work!

I'm reading Jeff Vandermeer's The Third Bear. Was thrilled to find it at the library! and it's just as freaky delicious as I was hoping for.

that's a really good blog hop question! at first, I want to say "both!" but i think it boils down to good characters for me. if the plot is silly or iffy, and the characters are great, I'll probably like the book. but no matter how awesome the plot is, if the characters are silly or iffy, i probably won't like it.

ahh, college. five years getting a degree in Industrial Design w/an art minor, and 10 years later I am managing a student bookstore at a small college campus.

i read book blogs for the reviews. I like to see blogger's different reviewing style - is it casual? formal? different depending on the book? I've found a handful of bloggers who read the same genres I do, so I specifically pay attention to books they praise or were dissapointed by.
