Those heartfelt, Kyaa moments in anime are the best indeed!!

It's totally normal for a big brother to help his sister brush teeth. ^ ^ That's all that was~

Agreed that this show is pretty consistent. I really like the relaxing atmosphere and cuteness of it all. This is yet another great episode. Love Ririchiyo. ^ ^

Oh yes, love this list. Cowboy Bebop, Ergo Proxy, Haibane Renmei, and Samurai Champloo are also among my favorite OP ever. Great music, lovely sequence. It's everything I look for in an OP.

Here's another suggestion: Serial Experiments Lain. I thought that anime had a pretty good OP too.

I rarely watch anime with other people either, but the times I do, I've generally had a blast. There's actually a sort of a loose group of blogger who watch anime together over Skype on the blogosphere. I've been in that group for a while (although I only drop into the watches on whims.) If you're interested, just ask around on Twitter with the hashtag #sccsav. I think you might be able to find some fun.

Agreed that there really isn't a lot of thematic significance, which I guess is fine for what this anime wants to do. Entertain with action and fast paced story and bad assery. And I love how little angsty drag there is. It's a fun watch, if not all that meaningful in the end.

I think my first anime anime was Laputa, Castle in the Sky. It was an incredible work that instantly captured my attention. But as time went on and I watch more and more stuff, it definitely feels like it's harder to find that feeling of freshness. The feeling of opening up to a whole new world of things.

Exactly! Pretty much my thoughts on this.

Also, there's a lot of subtlety to this anime that I really appreciate. It's turning out to be a very interesting story about parenting and responsibilities. Love it!
And yes, it's totally not pedo-centric. ^ ^
