The Toast : Cocktail Hour: Open Thread

I'm glad I could help! The actual diagnosis I got was "abnormal uterine bleeding." Apparently more estrogen in my system would help, but I can't take it (I'm on the minipill because of migraines). Doc #2 suggested eating more foods with naturally occurring estrogen, which I have half-assedly tried to do. Either way, this year's bout has been MUCH less panic-attack-inducing than last year's. (Last year was four months straight, this year was like... two actual periods and random spotting spread over two months.) And I definitely felt crazy and ignored it for a while too. I hope it improves for you soon!

I've actually gone and dug up my WP password to reply to you, because I've been dealing with this same thing on and off the past few years, right down to the first doc suggesting it was a metabolism thing. I eventually got to a second doc (both were gynos) who knew what it was, was very clear that it's nothing to worry about, though on the other hand couldn't do anything to make it better. According to doc #2, it has something to do with the estrogen/progestin imbalance caused by being on the minipill. If it makes you feel any better, mine did eventually stop (though still happens occasionally).

If you ever want an exploring buddy, I'm a recent arrival and haven't seen nearly as much of the city as I would like! Full disclosure, I have never found a cemetery that I didn't want to meander around in for hours.

Chicago toastie checking in! (Recently moved here, and really trying to get out of the apartment and meet people, with limited success.) I would definitely try to escape from a zombie.

Any chance this fellow Toastie can get in on the action? Probably can't make the 20th, as it's my birthday, but future things? RP Social is my neighborhood bar, too, which means we must all live really close to each other.

PSA for Chicago-area Discworld fans -- the Lifeline Theater in Rogers Park is doing "Monstrous Regiment". I saw it this weekend and it's just as much fun as you'd expect. And of course, the entire audience is gonna be Discworld fans. (Mods, delete this if it's against the rules.)

North Side! And I'm very relieved about the thaw, because I've been in the Midwest for all of 6 weeks and don't really know how to deal with cold yet. Is there a FB group for Chitoast? I think I looked but didn't/couldn't find anything.

Mark Watches : Mark Watches 'Fringe' Liveblog - Letters of Transit

This is probably way too late for anyone to respond, but did anyone else notice that the code to get into Massive Dynamic was 092112? As in 09/21/12, which will be a Friday this year and is the general time frame in which Fringe usually starts? Also, the title is very reminiscent of Casablanca...

The dynamics of the relationships are really interesting... she's falling apart on this side, and Walternate on the other. They really aren't at all the same people, for all they look alike.
