I know what you mean about the neighborhood thing. It's so strange...we live in a great neighborhood but our block doesn't have alot of kids on it. However, two blocks over is filled with kids and I'm always so jealous when I walk by and everyone is outside playing and having fun. So next year I'm going to try to get everyone to have a block party on the 4th of July...see if we can start meeting some more people that way. :)

I'm so happy for you E! Just got caught up on your blog and I have to say your last post about them giving you the finger...I remember that so well. It's really hard for people like you and me who really, truly care about the company we work for. At the end of the day it's just business to them...it always was and that sucks. ;) But pretty soon you can give them the finger from home or the park or while you're laying in bed snuggling Anna because you don't have to get up to get ready for work! :-)

Very beautifully written Erica! I feel you...it gets tougher...the moments where you are so proud of them for being who you are raising them to be and then wanting to snatch them back up and say, "But you're still my baby!" I look at Ava sometimes and I think, "How did this happen? When did you turn into a little girl? Because it felt like just yesterday I was wondering what color your eyes were going to be." I LOVE that you post all the moments. The ones where our children are being real and we know what we want to do and what's best to do are two different things. You show the human side to children...where many parents pretend their children have zero tough moments. And what I love even more is that you understand the balance...that parenting isn't about making your child's life perfect, but preparing her for life...for the easy moments and the tough moments. Kudos to you and your husband...I think the little girl your are raising will turn into an amazing woman.

I love this post! I stopped reading all the parenting books the first year...I was way too stressed out and figured I turned out pretty well-adjusted and my life was anything but by the book. I feel parenting books are like diets...everyone has a different theory, their theory is the best and in the end you end up doing what works for you anyway so why bother! :) I think the less I read, the more confident I got as a parent because I was in charge. I was questioning if I was doing somebody else's theory the right way. Hugs!
