The 3 R's: Reading, 'Riting, and Randomness : Sunday Salon: \"One More Hour\" Edition

I mostly slept through mine, but now I'm writing reviews and formatting posts. Huzzah, extra hour! (Not-so-huzzah for tomorrow, though, when I have to wake up early for work. Ugh.)
The 3 R's: Reading, 'Riting, and Randomness : Sunday Salon: A Quiet Weekend

Yay for 2000 posts! (I don't have any suggestions for what it should be, though. Sorry!) Also yay for Calibre-- I'm glad it's coming in handy for you. There's lots of nifty things you can do with it besides importing/converting/tagging/etc. Dear Author has some posts on the subject: http://dearauthor.com/ebooks/setting-up-a-new-lib... My recent post DNF: Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan

I'm Loving ♥ Books : What Are Your Thoughts on Waiting Until a Series is Complete to Read?

I have a VERY hard time reading a whole series straight through, so waiting or not waiting wouldn't make any difference for me because I'd still probably take a few years to read it. However! It IS nice to have the whole story ready to go if I AM struck by the need to complete the whole thing at once, sooooo. Hm. My recent post Currently reading (Sept. 27)

The 3 R's: Reading, 'Riting, and Randomness : The Phantom TBR: Or, Me and an E-Book

I guess I don't really count ebooks as "real" TBR books? Their lack of physical presence means that reading one is a bonus rather than something I have to work towards (climbing Mount TBR is much easier when half of it isn't staring me in the face). I DO keep track of all my ebooks, though-- I use Calibre, which has tags and things that lets me keep mark unread books vs. read. I don't know how much of a pain it'd be for you to import all your various books into another application, but at least they'd all be in one place! Which might help? My recent post Currently reading (Sept. 27)

My Friend Amy : The Sunday Salon, With a Brief Mention of Books

I'm already behind on Alcatraz, but I liked the first episode(s) I saw! Mainly I was impressed that the main detective character was a lady, lol. Also, about the ALA drama: I'm guessing lots of posts about it will start showing up this week, but meanwhile here's a really good one that goes over most of the issues discussed during the drama: http://www.stackedbooks.org/2012/01/librarians-bl... Please do come to ALA in June! I'm going to be there, and I want to meet all the bloggers I can in person. :D

The 3 R's: Reading, 'Riting, and Randomness : Book Recommendations, Given On the Fly

I feel the same! If I don't know you well enough how will I know what sort of book you'd enjoy? Plus, whenever people ask me questions that require me to remember large amounts of info, I invariably end up forgetting that info anyway. So I'm no help either way. I suppose what I should do is just try to remember one really good book and recommend that all the time. It could work!

http://poseysessions.blogspot.com/ : The Sunday Salon–Books Glorious Books

I think I'm basically reading the same kinds of books I was reading five years ago, only there's more of a mix between age brackets. I recently got rid of a ton of books myself-- I'd stockpiled them through library books sales and while at the time I thought I'd read them pretty quick, I actually hadn't read all that many of them. I didn't see myself reading them within the next year or so, so I got rid of them! I also have an ereader and I've been stockpiling freebie books on it for a while now, haha! I feel less bad about those, though, because they're free and don't take up much room. I DID delete a few I knew I'd never read, though! It's nice to clean out the TBR shelves somethings, I think.

Eek, good luck with your upcoming trip! I've been wanting to visit Mexico for ages, but the language barrier really worries me.
Life360 Now : Sex-Ed Mandated in New York City Classrooms

"Teenagers who are going to have sex are going to do so no matter what they are taught in school and teenagers who are smart enough to abstain from sex during this time are not stupid enough to change their minds and have sex based on that same course." Exactly! It's not like someone goes to a sex ed class, learns about condoms, and suddenly decides to go out and have sex the next day. If they DO, though?
Rywn : Sailor Moon Vol. 1 : Review

Yay! I was wondering when the rereleases were coming out! :D Also: I didn't know they were updating stuff, although that...sort of makes sense. I mean, the fashion is still totally dated (right?), but I can understand updating the technology. I think I still have some of the old Mixx single issues sitting around somewhere. It'd be neat to compare the two (if I can find them, anyway).
